receiver shuts off says check sp cable

The reciever is telling you that their is a problem with the speaker cable. I sugges pinpointing which speaker cable it is by turning the system off then unplug all the speaker cables and then plug one in at a time, waiting inbetween allowing enough time for the system to pick up the bad sp cable. Then once you find the correct cable check it from the reciever to the speaker for any signs of breakage, shorts, or damage. Check the speaker connections from wire to speaker and from the wire to the reciever. If all that fails then check the speaker itself, try swaping another one in the position to see if the problem is solved. Hope this works.

Suddenly today, for no reason, the monitor stopped turning on when the "on" button is pushed. I have checked the cords numerous times, and both the monitor and the computer have been turned off and on several times, but this does not help either. Is it dead? Should we toss it?

Try swaping power cables of CPU and monitor. Also, check power button on Monitor. Make sure you have power supply in boards.

Second, try removing VGA cable from CPU and check what you see on screen, if any display like no signal or no vga. That means your Monitor is working but onboard VGA has problem.

Hope this helps a bit to try yourself before taking it to repair center.

left half of my screen is clear and sharp and right half is dull

disconnect all the cables except the power cable and then turn the monitor on you would see a test screen if it still happens your monitor is faulty and better buy a new one as repairing is usually expensive .
try also swaping monitor with a different computer or a different computer with the same monitor .

re attach output bin error swaped known

Look for the sensor that is tripped when the output bin is attached. Trace the wiring back to origination. Either sensor is bad or wiring is bad.
