Tip & How-To about Heating & Cooling

Dehumidifier making too much water

Sorry folks, those who complain that their dehumidifier is making too much water seem to fail to understand, that is what it is supposed to do. If it is a portable unit, yes, it is a pain in the neck to have to keep emptying it. Check your owner's manual to see if it can be modified to be piped to a permenant drain. Next time, purchase a bigger model.

frigidaire dehumidifier

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that there is no water coming out of your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# FDF50S1. I also see that the filter is fine and the fan is running. If you have your dehumidifier set up to continuously drain through a garden hose, make sure there are no kinks or clogs in the garden hose. If that does not work, I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Turn the power back on and try any cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully.

-Best Regards-

how do I connect my dehumidifier with a hose directly to a drain

Are you much of a handyman? Most folks set their dehumidifier on a counter or elevated and run the exhaust tubing right into a sink or toilet. You could collect the water to flush a toilet or water the grass if you are handy. I've never seen anyone connect directly to a drain though.

if it does not get cold anymore, then a freon charge is necessary, provided the compressor was not damaged from "left it on for a long time once and found that ice had developed on it. I know that being left on could cause a problem"
