Tip & How-To about Nokia N70 Cellular Phone
This(or some) also imples to nseries phones that are with the same family as N70.
This would be like Q&A
Q: My phone is slow? What can I do? A: Nokia Phones specially N70 works with its phone memory side by side, slowdowns and hang ups occur when there is a little to no space left on you phone. You can check phone memory capacity in Menu>options>memory details>phone memory. So have a habit of moving file on your phone to your MMC or memory card. So as to clear phone's memory. Also, slow phones occur due to virus infections. They are acquired by Bluetooth transfers, unsecured opening of Bluetooth in public areas (ex airports). Some of todays phone viruses works there way through Bluetooth, when a phone with virus send data to another, the receiver also receives the same virus. Also sharing and borrowing of MMC from different phones could also cause viral infections. I suggest you install anti virus like F-secure , Kaspersky and other anti virus softwares available. If you want and immediate and very effective way of restoring your phone you can try re-formatting it or resetting to factory defaults, In N series phones like N70, there are two ways that can be performed; 1: press *#7370# on standby then followed by security code (which is 12345 by default) then press ok, the phone will restart, and you are done; 2: turn off your phone, simultaneously press (*) (3) (call key) then press power, continue holding the three keys except for the power button; until the nokia handshake appears, release the buttons, and follow the screen prompts about location time and date; !!!!!BUT PLEASE BE WARNED THAT DOING THIS ERASES YOUR PHONE'S DATA COMPLETELY!!!!!! So be sure to backup your needed data, and also, remove your MMC or memory card before performing this functions.
::: If the above solution does not helped you at all, I suggest you bring your phone to any authorized NOKIA service center for repairs(could be programming or hardware issues)
Q: My phone is draining so much battery, even when in standby. Is there anything I can do?
A: When a nokia phone specially N series phones, drain much battery even when on standby or not using it there are many factors; 1: Viral activities(just refer above for description and possible solution) 2: Grounded or shorted phone(due to water damage, overcharging etc) you can check this yourself by; a: inspect your battery, do this by placing it on a flat surface, your battery should laying flat and not bulging on the center, the battery should NOT also turn fast as if there is a pivot in the center, when you spin your battery (you can do so to check, spin the battery-- unorthodox technique but does the job-- it should not spin like a top. b: after immediate removal from the phone the battery should not be hot or warm as if it went from a fireplace. ::: note if your battery is bulging or heats up during usage, it means your phone might be grounded. You can check that by using a multitester. Having a multitester, the two probes RED and BLACK, attach the RED at the POSITIVE terminal (look at the battery to know which is positive and negative terminal) BLACK at negative, It will show a reading(depends on age, model year of manufacture). Now reverse the polarity of the probes, BLACK to positive and RED to NEGATIVE, the reading should be dropping back to ZERO or very close to zero, NOT close to your first reading. If your reading is close to high(or close to your first reading) I might say your phone is GROUNDED. Have it brought in for repairs at a NOKIA service center. 3: and mostly neglected, USING FAKE OR CHEAP batteries. There are a lot of fake batteries out there but i STRONGLY NOT RECOMMEND using them. There are a lot of set backs and effects for your phone, like quick discharge, long charging hours, quick charge-but-quick drain(kinda annoying), and many more. And also, There is even danger for the user, there have been reports of exploding phones that used fake or substandard batteries (Imagine your phone explodes in your hands, ouch). Buying ORIGINAL maybe expensive, BUT in the long run you would actually save. Saving on repairs, saving electricity etc. Also taking you away from potential hazards that could arise.
Q: I Cant send messages!!! -or- I cant receive messages!!!
A: There are many things that causes them; 1: check signal or network coverage 2: check your sim card (test the sim on other phones if it cant send or receive messages) 3: check your sent items ( if your sent items are a bunch-- i experienced a customer giving a phone to me for repair having 1474 messages, i still cant believe up to now- try deleting some or all of them, nokia phones tend no to recieve or send of the message inbox outbox and sent items are crammed with old messages 4: check with your network provider (sometimes network provider performs system maintenance and thus sometimes we cannot send any message or delayed messages). 5: check subscription ( in some countries network providers give prepaid option, or loaded values, thus if have zero balance left you cant send any messages at all) if you have performed all of the above and still cannot recieve or send messages I suggest you bring in your phone to a servie center or the store where you have bought them.
Q: I cant place a call or receive calls??
A: the answer to this is like what is said above; please refer to them as they are also same with solutions.(messaging)
