Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Learn the name of your anti-virus program

Its important to know the name of your anti-virus program, because on the web there are spyware pop ups that trick you to download their antivirus. I trust AVG, Avira, or Rising anti-virus programs. Avira is my favorite and I recommend you try that one.

cant load a map because Google has detected unregistered Antivirus 2009 copy on your computer. Google

It has been my experience that messages like these are really spyware programs the redirect you to their websites to purchase their junk. I would recommend running through you program listings (Add/Remove Software)and removing anything you don't absolutely need or don't know of. Google maps is a javascript application, so anything loading a javascript library that isn't from Sun Microsystems is probably suspect. Look for anything with java or jscript in the name, or, anything that doesnt have a description. Most are toolbar apps or search engines. Your Antivirus might pick it up as spyware and might not. So a thorough spyware check is heavily recommended.

2008 xp antivirus

Have you tried AVG? It is a free anti-virus software.

By the sounds of it "2008 xp antivirus" is a virus. The people who make these viruses often choose names to trick users into downloading their viruses.

MY GATEWAY LAPTOP "MX6214" IS GETTING A MESSAGE ON BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER SAYING THE SYSTEM IS DETECTING ACTIVE SPYWARE. WHEN I CLICK ON THE MESSAGE, IT DIRESCTS ME TO A "VIRUS-HEAT" ADD TRYING TO SELL ME AN ANTI-SPYWARE PROGRAM. I ALREADY HAVE A GOOD SPYWARE PROGRAM AND I CAN NOT GET RID OF THIS ADVERTISEMENT. THE ICON LOOKS LIKE A SHIELD THAT CHANGES FROM A BLUE QUESTION MARK TO A RED "X". I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING I KNOW TO REMOVE THIS MESSAGE BUT HAVE HAD NO LUCK. PLEASE HELP !

It is a virus or spyware try running a antivirus or antispyware prog if that doesn't help you will have a choice live with it(easy, but annoying), take it in (easy, but expensive), or save all your important files and reload everything (little more difficult, but cheap). Hope that helps you out. Either way you do it make sure to always have antivirus and antispyware running, you can get good ones for free. here are some links.
