How to make sure your disk is inserted properly in a ps2 slim

Usually when people are in a rush and they don't realize that they havent put the disk in right in a ps2 slim and it says the disk could not be read. there is a way of checking.when you put a disc into the console make sure you here three clicks. these clicks can be slow or fast. another way to check is probably listening to the playstation when you turn it on.if it continuously clicks that means that the disk isnt inserted properly these two ways save your playstation from the disc overspinning or crashing

i cannot play my dvd game on my ps2 , but my friends can play my dvd game on his ps2

Fat and Slim PS2's generally have different playability with disks. a slim, for example, does not want to play old blue-backed disks, though it will easily read PSX black backs. I'll need more information on the disk and the PS2 to give a complete answer.

slim ps2 disk read error

I don't want to put you down or nothing but, buying the slim ps2 wasn't a great idea. If you bought the original ps2 it would've been better. The thing about the thin ps2 is the hd is small, the laser tends to become weaker faster. Go get the ps2 checked out someplace.

Disk Error...Grinding sound when i put it in

I think you will also have trouble with reading Audio CDs. This is s sign that your Laser is dirty. The following procedure is for the older Big PS2. It will not work for the Slim PS2 model. Do not ever use Alcohol on the Slim models Laser Lens.

I hope your in the right posting area, this is for the Phat PS2 consoles with the drawer that comes out to put the CD in. Procedure is different for Slim PS2.
  1. Disconnect power and turn the case upside down.
  2. Remove the screw covers to expose the case screws. These are little square pieces or square rubber pads. You can use a thin knife blade to pry the hard plastic squares up.
  3. Remove all the screws.
  4. Remove the Warranty sticker to the right edge of the power socket.
  5. Turn the PS2 over to set it right side up.
  6. lift the top cover from the back and pull it forward slightly to clear the CD tray. Be careful of a possibly Ribbon cable attached to the lid going to the Reset/Eject buttons. Roll the cover over to the right leaving the ribbon intact.
  7. Remove the CD tray lid.
  8. Polish the Laser lens, and remove any lint or hair from the CD area. Use Alcohol and cotton swabs to clean the laser lens. By the way, Alcohol will damage a PS2 Slim lens. All lens are not created equally.
  9. Hook up the power and A/v Cables.
  10. Remove the little white disc from the CD tray lid.
  11. Place a Disc on the spindle, and cap the disc with the little white piece that you removed from the CD tray cover.
  12. Boot up the PS2 and test it, Continue cleaning until you get it to work.
  13. Put it back together, and you’re in business.
If you have trouble you can send your PS2 to a Repair shop. Click on "Repair Directory" at the bottom of this screen. then choose "Video Game Consoles". Then you pick a Good Repair shop. My shop is listed, but I cannot divulge the name in this forum. Cost will be $25 plus shipping. Shipping is usually $8.95 to the USA

Disk wont spin

First of all the new laser lens will not allow your Slim to read NTSC UC games if you have a PAL european Console.

There is no reason the New laser should have not read the disc unless it Came to you damaged. It sounds like you know how to replace a laser.
