Tip & How-To about Nintendo DSi Black Console

How to setup the WiFi on your Nintendo DSi

I've seen quite a few questions on this site that all say the same thing pretty much: "How do I set up Internet on my DSi?" Allow me to explain the process. It's very simple.
1. At the DSi main menu, select the "System Settings" option and touch it with your stylus or press A.
2. Tap the Right Arrow two times. You will see an option that reads "Internet". Press it.
3. Select Connection Settings in the Internet Options Menu.

4. You will see 3 connection options. Select one that says "None".

5. At this point you have three choices: Search for an Access Point, AOSS, or Manual Setup. Your best bet is to choose Search for an access point. This will scan for any available connections around you.

6. When it finishes searching, a list of connections will appear. Select the one that you are trying to connect to. You will either see an unlock icon or a locked icon. If there is a locked icon, you will need to input your security code for your Router.

7. Once the connection is selected and the password, if there is one, is inputted, the system will preform a connection test. Once the test is complete, your connection settings are saved and you are ready to access Nintendo WiFi. Happy Gaming!

One last note. Some connections have security codes that are inaccessible for standard DS and DSi's. If that happens, instead of choosing an open connection (Step 4), you will want to choose "Advanced Setup". This will allow you to access connections with higher security, but you will only be able to use DSi features (Shop and Internet mainly. No In-game WiFi). The steps to connect to those systems is the same as connecting to a lower security connection.

I want to buy a pet charm for my cat but with their birthstone included. Is there such a thing?

Yes, I've seen quite a few sites that specialize in adding the birthstone to the charms. Here's one example, http://www.puppypaws.com/xcart/home.php?cat=57

i have an r4i card that was working perfectly i updated the internet settings on it and am now getting a message saying and error has occured press and hold the power button to turn off

Hi Petal,

You updated your DSi to the latest 1.4.3 firmware when you updated the internet settings. Once your DSi console has been updated to v1.4.3 firmware it cannot then be downgraded. If you are using a genuine R4i 3DS card (check on the r4dsrevolutioncards.com website by the way, they do a pretty good guide on the different types of genuine / fake cards. Also see r4dsrevolutioncards.com, they're pretty useful for R4i card info) then you should be able to update the firmware of the R4i card through the "Settings" menu of the R4i. You need to do this on a 1.4.2-or-below DSi console, or a DS Lite though.

NintendoDSCards.com has an info page and a video to show you how to update a legit R4i card (NOT fakes) - click here to visit the 1.4.3 R4i Update page.

If you're using a fake card (such as the R4i Gold, R4i Ultra etc.) then it's quite likely the card simply isn't supported and you'd need to get a new one. Your best bet is to buy an authentic card and simply buy something decent that's upgradable. DS cards unfortunately don't last forever, and teams eventually stop supporting the cards - but the fake ones are terrible at this to be honest!

I personally shop with dscardworld (www.dscardworld.com) and they're great, but that's because I live in the US. I used to live in Sweden and if you are in Europe then nds-gear (nds-gear.com) are just better if you live outside of the US/Canada in my opinion, so pick depending on where you live. Both of those shops are authentic retailers of R4i, Acekard and Supercard by the way (probably others too but those are the ones I've used).

If you're getting a card for a 3DS / DSi console I'd recommend a Supercard DSTWO since it's pretty much just awesome and you can play Gameboy Advance games as well on it. But if you just need a basic card or you're using it on a DS Lite / DS, I'd get an Acekard 2i. Up to you really, I think both of them also stock the genuine R4i's but they seem to be going out of fashion these days.

Hope I've helped, good luck!

can't log in to site

Which site are you trying to log into ?

Well first thing to check would obviously be to make sure CAP-LOCK is not on and that password is entered correctly but i'm sure you probably know that so heres a few other possibilities:

1). Check Internet options and make sure security settings are set to "default" level
2). And privacy settings are set to allow session cookies.. (in Internet Explorer slide the privacy lever all the way down until it says "Accept All Cookies")

3). In some rare cases if all above options are set correctly and you still cant login then reseting router might help (to do a quick reset just unplug power cord on router for 10 seconds then plug back in) but router is usually not the cause and i've only seen one situation where router was the problem but i'm mentioning it just in case to be thorough

how do i get internet on dsi

Well, i read on the GAME site, that you have to download it. I dunno where from though.

I just read on a site that 'you'll figure this out as soon as you first power up the system. Click on the DSi Shop icon from the main menu, and you're immediately prompted to run a firmware update.

The process for doing firmware updates is pretty much the same as it is on the Wii. For the non-Wii owners out there, that means pretty much hands-off, although a bit on the slow side. '

how do we remove the update my daughter downloaded of the internet to her dsi that now wont let her play her acekard 2

There is no way to go downgrade.

You will need to purchase a new card for it that is compatible with the new V1.4 firmware. I'm not sure if AceCard makes one or not. I know that the R4i card I have is V1.4 compatible, I'd suggest going that route...

The image they have on their site is the one I have. I have also seen some in a read box, but don't know what the difference is...
