How to give your google blogger weblog a custom domain CNAME
This is quite a simple process you can either use a domain name that you
have already registered OR create a new domain name for $10 (£8) using
the google apps powered by www.godaddy.com
USING
THE BLOGGER WIZARD:
If you wish to go with the default option that is provided with the
blogger wizard it will create your domain on the godaddy hosting servers
you can still access and edit your weblog through your blogger
dashboard this is also where you setup the new domain name in the
publishing tab.
First you will need to check the availability of your chosen host name
on DNS you only use one of these the top-level servers
com
net
org
info
biz
In this case I wish to change my weblog hostname now held at www.blogger.com which is www.fixyatipsandtricks.weblog.com to
my desired URL I also own www.windowstipsclub.co.uk
jump to the setup webforwarding heading of this tip for help on how to
do this.
You need to either buy the domain name @ godaddy.com first OR use
the easiest option and have the blogger dashboard create it for you in
the settings publishing tab. Where you need to check the name
availability on the DNS servers
All you need to do is attach a method or payment to your google account
and follow the wizard until you see following page that will tell you
that your blog is ready!
NOTE: that you can switch back
to blogspot.com at any time which will still be free see the link at the
top of this screendump. It also tells you that web-forwarding will also
be set up for you and users who search using the old blogspot URL will
be automatically directed to the new domain name.
Its is an annual renewal contract that can be set to automatically
charge your credit card that you have attached to google and is linked
into your google account that you will already have linked to blogger
click this image to manage this.
REMEMBER : this is not the same as
just changing you weblog name on the blogger servers check this google
support LINK
where your links will be lost. You will in effect be hosting your weblog
on the godaddy server and all your previous links will be automatically
forwarded.
NOTE: it may
take upto 3 days for the link to propagate through the internet domain
name servers (DNS)
as shown below
SETTING UP
WEB-FORWARDING:
Web forwarding is a way for your domain to be pointed to another web
address or page. You can choose to have your domain name remain in the
address bar, which is called “framed web forwarding". Alternatively, you
can choose to display the new address, which is known as “non-framed
web forwarding”.
For Example if you own www.windowstipsclub.co.uk
and also www.windowstipsclub.com
and they are registered at different hosting websites then you can set
up web-forwarding on the first server to point to the domain where the
full website is.
Many companies do this that register the same website name on all the
domains if you also own www.windowstipsclub.net
this can also be setup to forward to your dot COM of the same name it
is a good idea however to host all the addresses at the same host you
may get discounts
You can access this on your weblog through the settings + publishing
tab and select either the google apps OR your own custom domain name
you will have to logon to the company that you used and change some of
the DNS settings to do this correctly.
SETTING UP A
WEBSITE CNAME:
Basically this is an alias name for your website his helps when running
multiple services (like an FTP and a
webserver; each running on different ports) from a single IP address
this is the number that your ISP will give you and is unique for all
websites.
Each service that you will run can then have its own entry in DNS
www.windowstipsclub.com
ftp.windowstipsclub.com

Check out these two support links for help on how to do this first
look at this youtube tutorial that shows how to add the IP address for
the new servcie and CNAME that you want to add to your existing IP
address.

This is something that I really cannot explain how to do in a single post. I would recommend that you start reading W3Schools. Basically, there are a number of ways you can create a website. There are many program out there than can do most of the work for you, such as Dreamweaver (a more expensive product). You can also use pre-made layouts such as webs.com. If you really want to learn how to custom-make your own website from the ground up, you will need to go through W3schools, or something like that. You will want to learn html, probably css, and javascript. These are a few of the basic programming languages that make up the backbone of the web. W3 should also bring you through purchasing a domain name and such.
I hope that helps!
It isn't complicated. You'll need to register a new domain name, and make sure that it's followed by .org. I'll explain all that below.
But first, I'll assume your church already has it's own domain name, followed by ".com". For example, mychurch.com, gocatholic.com, or maybe even something like baptists-r-us.com.
If you already have your own "dotcom", you'll need to register your domain name again, this time with .org on the end. Then once you've done so, the company that hosts your domain can help you create the new email address, usually from their website.
If you need more help with this, post again and I can explain further.
