How to tell if the remote control is putting Infrared signal

Infrared is an electromagnetic wave that is just below the visible sprectrum. The lowest is RED and anything below that would be invisible to the naked eye. Try this experiment. Open up your pc cam. Now point the TV remote straight at the cam and you should see the the pulsating infrared on your computer. If your remote is not working this experiment will at least tell you that the remote is giving off infrared pulse or not.

Why can't you run a microwave without anything in it? I ran mine for 4 minutes without anything in it and now it won't heat anything.

What was the point of running it empty?. Looks like you, as many users out there, never read instructions for any thing. No offence!
First let me explain what a MICROWAVE does, then you will understand the damaged you have caused to your unit.
A microwave is an electromagnetic wave (radiation) with a wavelength in the range 0.001 to 0.3 shorter than a radio wave but longer than an infrared. They are used in various scenarios; industrial processes, communications and heating.
When these waves enter the food or liquids they are absorbed by their molecules which turns into an increase of the temperature of the items exposed.
If nothing is exposed to absorb these microwaves, they will be reflecting in all the walls of the cooking chamber and eventually entering the grills (of the intake and exhaust vents) damaging the the electronic components exposed to these waves.
Hope that helps!

What is UV light?

UV (ultraviolet) light is, according to Wikipedia, "electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength shorter than that of visible light, but longer than X-rays"
"It is so-named because the spectrum consists of electromagnetic waves with frequencies higher than those that humans identify as the color violet. These frequencies are invisible to humans, but visible to a number of insects and birds." (wikipedia)

want answer about a short note on Electromagnetic spectrum

The electromagnetic spectrum is a continuum of all electromagnetic waves arranged according to frequency and wavelength. The sun, earth, and other bodies radiate electromagnetic energy of varying wavelengths. Electromagnetic energy passes through space at the speed of light in the form of sinusoidal waves. The wavelength is the distance from wavecrest to wavecrest.

what is the sorce of radiowaves

Radio waves are electromagnetic waves occurring on the radio frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, with the range of about 3 Hz to 300 GHz.

Like all electromagnetic waves, radio waves are produced by exited electrons when they return to their normal state. Radio waves can be made to carry information by varying a combination of the amplitude, frequency and phase of the wave within a frequency band.

When electromagnetic radiation impinges upon a conductor, it couples to the conductor, travels along it, and induces an electric current on the surface of that conductor by exciting the electrons of the conducting material. This effect (the skin effect) is used in antennas. Electromagnetic radiation may also cause certain molecules to absorb energy and thus to heat up; this is exploited in microwave ovens.
