How to Reset Windows Password When You Forgot It?

If you have lost the administrator password and are unable to log in to the computer at all, then you need to reset the password to blank. This is achieved by booting the computer from the Reset Windows Password 1.3 boot CD.

Reset Windows Password is an easy-to-use bootable CD, with a graphical interface. You can use it to easily reset Windows login password by following the below simple steps.

Simply burn Reset Windows Password 1.3 to a CD, then boot from it. The program automatically detects all Windows installations and user accounts on your computer. Select a user account and click Reset button to reset the password to blank, then you can log into your computer with a blank password.

My daughter forgot her password on emachine E725 and can not boot. How can we reboot the computer? Thank you.

Assuming that you mean the Windows log in password, try using blank (none) as password (otherwise at the log on screen hit "enter"). If this doesn't work log on at the administrator's account. To do this if you can see the administrator's icon click on it and use blank (none) for password again. If you can't see the administrator's icon, hit ctrl+atl+del TWICE and type as user "administrator", blank (none) for password and hit enter. After you log on as administrator change your user's account as you wish and you are ready to go.

my son changed his password on his netbook. now he doesn't remember it. he cannot log in at all. he can do absolutely nothing with it. how can we fix this?

at Windows XP's Welcome Screen, simply press Ctrl-Alt-Del keys sequence together twice, and you will be shown a Log On to Windows menu where you can specify the User Name and Password. In the User Name text box, key in "Administrator" (without quotes) and leave the Password field blank. Then press Enter or click on OK. If there it is not a password protected Administrator account, or blank password is set, then you will be able to access the Windows with full administrative privileges as Administrator.

Then simply click start > control panel > User accounts then select your sons account and click edit then click remove password. once done simply log off and then log in to your sons account and no password will be asked for. If your son is the root administrator then you will need to get software to reset the password for you

lost password after reinstallation

There are a couple methods which you can try:

When the computer first boots Windows you can press F8 to access an advanced boot menu.

From there you can choose to boot the computer in "Safe Mode" which changes the system start-up mode.

There should be a hidden user that appears as "Administrator" that you can select...

(When Windows is installed for the first time there is an option for the "Administrator" password. This password is not required and is usually left blank. If you left the password field blank then clicking on user will log you in automatically. Otherwise, you're required to enter the original password you choose to protect the system.)

Log-in into windows as "Administrator" and create a new user in the control panel that you can log-in to the system normally with.

Restart the computer and log-in under the newly created profile to regain access to your system.

If you can't log-in under your user or the administrator profile because you forgot both passwords you will have to do an advanced recovery process, or wipe the system completely.

(Here is a link for a Linux Boot CD image, burn to a disc and boot to change the Administrator password in Windows XP/Media Center/Server 2003 Systems.)

If this doesn't work you can boot to an alternative recovery disk, Windows CD/DVD, partitioning software, or third party password recovery tool.

When all else fails, you can delete and create a new partition; then you would have to run the Windows setup again to recover your Operating System and drivers.
