HOW TO RESOLVE A MAJOR PROBLEM ON A DESKTOP COMPUTER

MOST DELL OPTIPLEX HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS,OF EITHER NOT COMING,BEEPING AND NOT CONNECTING TO NETWORK.
NOT COMING:unplug the system disconnect the HDD connector, and power it on again if problem persists, remove the RAM/MEMORY and reinsert it again,if it doers the same thing, leave the ram and unscrew the fan and have a feeling of the processor to see if its hot,if the processor is not hot, replace the it with a similar type and test again,if it does the same thing....JUST BE SURE ITS THE MOTHERBOARD.
BEEPING:this is mostly caused by MEMORY/RAM,NOTE its going to beep for SIX times, reinsert it and test run it,if beeping continues replace the ram and here you go.
NOT CONNECTING TO NETWORK:its two way either the your network cable nor the port,if problem persist replace the cable or test with another system entirely,if it does the same thing, place order for the motherboard.
Do as follow and let me know how it helps.

Dell Optiplex gX520 will not boot beyond the splash screen. Dell Optiplex gX520 will not boot beyond the splash screen. There are not post code beeps. The lights on the front panel are 1 and 4. Both are green. Dell's online diagnostic for lights does not include a description or explanation for this pattern.

Sounds like you may have multiple problems. Suggest trying to eliminate possible causes by removing components. Remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged. Remove the components one at a time and see if the LED's change.

My Dell Optiplex GX620 is making a soft beeping noise like an alarm. Why?

It in fact may be an alarm, over heating?
If it beeps in groups, like TVs do in an error mode, look up what it means on dell's web site.

I have a Dell Desktop GX620 with 1 gb Ram, 250 GB HDD and Pentium D Processor. Whenever I use the System, it will start and then after a proper shut down. I will start the system again, the three beep noises comes from the motherboard, I have replace the Rams. I was told by the Dealer, that the motherboard d945 Main Bio IC is getting Hot too fast. What should I do, Change the System or the Motherboard? But which motherboard do you recommend then?

Here is a link to a manual for this computer.

Look where it states Diagnostics lights and see if the light patterns in the back panel lights match any on the list. It might help you on pin pointing your issue. If it is a memory issue and you have already replaced it then it is the motherboard.

DELL OPTIPLEX GX50 GX 50, HDD getting very hot + psu too!! HELP!!

Hard drives can exhibit extraordinary heat output as the platter bushings start to go bad. Sometime they will make noise, but not always. As the platter bushing wear out the drive system draws more amperage from the power supply. This can cause both the HDD and the power supply to generate exesive heat. Unfortunately, there is no definate test for this. If you have a spare drive, you can run it for a couple of hours to test this theory. Best bet is to get that data backed up before you loose the drive all together.

System Does not start

There is a full step-by-step guide to diagnosing this problem on the dell website (actually very helpful). You can find it here (titled Dell? OptiPlex? No Post, No Video for GX100 and GX110): http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/tree?c=us&l=en&s=gen&journalid=DFB8C72540D611DCACF8FBE14C494B1F&treeid=9F6F166431914C6B9722AA3209A42250&Query=dHJvdWJsZXNob290&SystemID=PLX_PNT_P03_GX110&ServiceTag=&contenttype=-1&os=-1&component=-1&lang=-1&doclang=en&toggle=true&dl=
