Tip & How-To about Audio Players & Recorders

Connecting speakers to amplifiers

Make sure the amplifier power is off or disconnected when connecting speaker wires. Never try to connect the speakers with the amplifier powered on, if the wire touch you could short out the output section of the amplifier.

I have a brand new logic soundlab tx1002. it was hooked to a brand new radio and new speakers. When turned on, it is in protection mode. you get a popping sound from the speakers. we have checked all wires and everything seems good. any ideas?

first disconnect one wire at a time, making sure the power is off. then connect power and check to see if your speakers are making the popping sound. when you do your speakers, make sure you disconnect both positive and negitive of each speaker at one time. when your amp goes out of protect mode you will have found your suspect wire. then trace to the issue. it could be as simple as crossed over possitive and negitive wires
cheers

protection fail

DISCONNECT THE SPEAKERS AND ALSO DISCONNECT THE RCA INPUTS. POWER THE AMPLIFIER UP AND SEE IF IT GOES INTO PROTECTION. IF IT DOES, MAKE SURE ALL POWER CONNECTIONS ARE GOOD AND IF SO, THEN THE AMPLIFIER WILL NEED TO BE SERVICED. ALSO NOTE THAT AT NO TIME SHOULD YOU PROVIDE AN INPUT SIGNAL WITHOUT CONNECTING THE SPEAKERS, SO MAKE SURE YOU DO DISCONNECT BOTH THE SPEAKERS AND RCA INPUTS AS DESCRIBED ABOVE. HOPE THIS HELPS TO POINT YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.....V

400 watt amplifier not working

Disconnect all the speaker wires from the amplifier that runs the 6-speaker system. Switch off the amplifier or disconnect the remote turn-on wire, then re-connect it. Does the power light still flash with no speakers connected? If so, your amplifier is probably damaged. If not, then connect one speaker and see if it plays. If it doesn't, disconnect the first speaker and connect a different one. If the first speaker plays, continue connecting the rest of the speakers until you find the one that's causing the problem.
