I have a Pioneer DVR5100H which was set up to record Analogue programs - can I change the set up to accept digital programs. I have tried auto setup but it doesn't pick up any programs?

Hi,

You can't record digital programmes with this recorder unless it is connected to a digital tuner, e.g. a Freeview box or Sky digibox. This recorder has a built in analogue tuner which allows it to record analogue transmissions. Recorders which can record digital transmissions have a built-in digital tuner and usually have a DVB logo (actually looks more like DV3) on the front.

If you want to record digital programmes using this recorder, you need to connect it to a Freeview or Sky digibox, preferably with a scart cable. It is not sufficient to connect it to a TV with a digital tuner or built in Freeview as the player does NOT record directly from the TV, it must be connected directly to the transmission source. A basic stand-alone digital tuner (Freeview box) can be bought for as little as £10-15.

I have a Philips DVD Rcorder How can I record a programme but watch another one at the same time. Has Freeview installed.

When you have programmed the DVD to record a channel, you can only watch another channel from your TV's channels, or a second freeview box.

The DVD recorder can only be set to one channel at a time, even though it has separate analogue & digital tuners.

Wharfedale DVDR24HD250 DVD Recorder When set up will not find any programmes on Automatic Programme Search (APS)

Products such as this will use an internal tuner to tune channels, this tuner will not detect your televisions freeview stations, to record from your television, connect scart out from tv to the scart in on the recorder, then select the scart A/V channel, use the television to select the channel you want to record, you will not be able to record 1 freeview channel and watch another freeview chanel as you only have 1 digital tuner (in the television) the recorder does not have freeview built in.. hope that helps

Recording from Tuner

I would suggest using the programme guide on the tuner and setting the record up from there rather than trying to set up the whole thing from timer mode.
