If media center is not working

Click Start ,
Type “run” in the Start Search box, and then
Click Run in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Continue .
In the Open box, type %systemdrive%\programdata\microsoft\ehome
Click OK .
In the details pane, right-click “mediacenterdatastore.db” , and then
Click Delete .
Click Yes to confirm that you want to move the "Mediacenterdatastore.db" file to the Recycle Bin.
Start Windows Media Center.

To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.

  3. At the command prompt, the following line, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow
  4. When the scan is complete, test to see whether the issue that you are experiencing is resolved.

Overview
This article describes two methods for restarting the Print Spooler service within Vista.
Method 1: Restart the service using the services console
  1. Click Start, type services.msc in the Start Search box, and then click services.msc in the Programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, you can either type your password or click Continue.
  2. Right-click Print Spooler, and then click Stop.
  3. Right-click Print Spooler again, and click Start.
Method 2: Restart the service at a command prompt
  1. Click Start, All Programs, and then click Accessories.
  2. Right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as Administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
  3. Type the following commands at the command prompt.

    net stop spooler [Press ENTER.]
    net start spooler [Press ENTER.]
    exit [Press ENTER.]
