Helpful

To reset the recorder to factory defaults as if it was just removed from the box - leave the recorder on then press and hold the channel up and down buttons at the same time until it says "Bye" on the display. When it shows the clock it is off - wait a few seconds then turn it back on - you should see the initial setup asking you to choose a language.

Note: You may have to flip down part of the front panel to reveal the channel buttons.

It seems a couple of you might be getting lined to the wrong product. The top above is specifically for the Panasonic DVD Recorder model DMREZ47V, though it should work for all Panasonic DVD recorders.

Too bad it has nothing to do with the Mintek MDP-1880 like it says at the top of the page, now THAT would have been helpful!

The VHS side of my DVP620VR/17 quit --- would go forward and backward, but no picture on the screen -- only the DVD side worked normally.  I tried the "Factory Reset" tip by xmarine2847, held down the channel up and down buttons at the same time --- released them after some seconds (but didn't see "Bye" on the display), put in a VHS tape, and was delighted to see the pictures now displayed on the t-v.  Thanks, xmarine2847!
