Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet
I've often seen this problem on Fixya, there's a quite well known solution.
The CD/DVD drive drawer on your PC (laptop or desktop) won't open when you press the button.
Look closely at the front of the drive, usually, just below the draw itself but still on the front bezel of the drive, you should be able to spot a small hole.
This is the manufacturers fail safe release mechanism, all you need to do is straighten out a paper clip, or use something similar, a push it into the hole, quite firmly. This should release the draw and it will pop out part way.
Invariably after doing this, the drive draw starts to function again normally.
