How to enable CD digital audio extraction

How to enable CD digital audio extraction
(Digital CD Audio Playback)

1. Click START / SETTINGS / CONTROL PANEL / SYSTEM.

2. Click the HARDWARE tab.

3. Click DEVICE MANAGER.

4. Click the plus (+) to the left of DVD / CD-ROM DEVICES and double-click your CD-ROM drive. Note you can also right click and select Properties.

5. Click the PROPERTIES tab and toggle ENABLE CD DIGITAL AUDIO EXTRACTION FOR THIS DRIVE.

6. Click OK

Repeat steps 4-6 for any other ROM drives listed in Device Manager.

Note you may need to reboot your computer for the change to take effect.

At this point CD digital audio extraction should be enable and you do not need to have the CD audio cable connected between your ROM drive and sound card. Note if you have an older computer (CPU under 1G) then you may need to have CD digital audio extraction turned off because your computer may not be able to handle the data from the CD on the system bus.

HK 2.1 analog system with Windows 7, worked flawlessly no problems, moved and reconnected system but no audio. Have tested speakers separately, reloaded drivers, have done a system reset, done an entire system scan, all with no problems. The system hardware shows the audio and drivers working and with sound levels and acknowledge when I connect or disconnect. However, headphone jack does allow audio. I am persistent but I am now going on 5 days trouble-shooting and the heroics are gone. (My audio test for the speakers was unique as all my sound equip has different connections types. I used a boom box AM/FM device, having its own amp and the 2.1 HK having its own internal amp. Could there be an internal fuse tripped? It is hard to know where there problem is. Help!

have you configured the speakers?

Now for your device problem try this:

1. In Control Panel, double-click Multimedia or Sounds and Multimedia.
2. On the Audio tab, select the devices you want in the Preferred Device boxes.
3. Click the Use Preferred Devices Only check box to select it.
4. Click OK.

Windows 2000 and XP:
1. In Control Panel, double-click Sounds and Audio Devices.
2. On the Audio tab, select the devices you want in the Default Device boxes.
3. Click the Use only default devices check box to select it.

Windows Vista:

2. In Control Panel, select the option that says Hardware and Sound
3. Under the listing for Sound, select Manage Audio Devices
4. Under Recording and Sounds tabs, you will find all available devices. To set a default device, right click on one of them and select Set as Default Device.

Windows should now be configured to use these devices for both playback and recording.

This should fix your problem, if not use link to go to Sony support. Use the E-Mail option for a faster solution.
