How to Rip Nintendo Wii Games: VIDEO GUIDE OPEN HERE>>> If you want to rip, or back up, games for your Nintendo Wii, it's not going to be easy. Nintendo Wii and Gamecube disks both spin in the opposite direction from normal disks to prevent them from being ripped. But there is a way to get around this by ripping the game directly from the Wii onto an SD card. Step 1 Make sure your Wii is modified with a Wiikey. Without one, you will not be able to rip games for it. You can have Wiikey installed for you, or install it yourself. Step 2 Plug in the Gecko adapter and SD card into your Wii's Gamecube memory card slot. It will then ask you to load a disk. Step 3 Load whatever Wii or Gamecube game you want to rip. It will save the files on the SD card, but the card is too small to fit the whole game. Once it has dumped all the information it can hold, you must remove the SD card and put the files on your computer. Erase the card and put it back in the memory card slot and continue copying the game's information. For a Wii game you will have to do this three times. Step 4 Once you have the entire game on your computer, they will be in usually three separate pieces. Combine them into one file. Step 5 Burn the game file onto a 4.7 GB DVD disk and play it on your Wii. Due to the Wii's protection software, only modified Wii's can play ripped Wii games. How to Rip Wii Backups: VIDEO GUIDE HERE>>> Making backups of your Nintendo Wii games is a great investment that will likely save you some money. You will need a Wii running Homebrew to rip and then play your Wii backups. So, before attempting the actual backup get the Homebrew channel up and running. Having a Homebrew-capable Wii means that your console is able to play user created programs and games that are not Nintendo signed. This is legal, but cannot be taught here for copyright reasons (see Resources for more information). Step 1 Turn on your Nintendo Wii and allow it to boot into your Wii dashboard. Insert your external hard drive into an open USB slot or insert your Wii SD card. Use the Wiimote to select the "Homebrew" channel and you will be shown the available Homebrew programs. Step 2 Select "DVD Dumper" from the Homebrew channel. Press the "A" button to verify that you want to backup the game to your external hard drive or SD card. Press the right directional pad button until the screen says "Wii Single-Layer Disc" and press the "A" button. Step 3 Insert your Wii game into the optical drive. Your Wii will read the disc and will ask you to press the "A" button to begin the rip. Press the "A" button and your Wii game will be placed onto the external hard drive or SD card. Step 4 Wait as the process completes. DVD Dumper will tell you when the process is complete and you can exit the program. You can now use your Wii backups to play games from your external hard drive or SD card. You will need a program like "USBLoader" to play these backups (see Resources).
