We recently purchased an AVR 146 receiver and have attempted to connect our DVR satellite receiver, a DVD player/recorder and our Hitachi (non HD) TV, plus a surround sound system to it. The surround sound seems to work fine, and we get sound from the DVR but no picture on the TV. The DVD has no sound or picture. The DVR is connected via RCA plugs to Video 2 A/V inputs. The DVD is connected via component video inputs (red, blue & green). The TV runs from the AVR component video monitor outputs to the corresponding TV inputs. What are we doing wrong regarding the video? Do we need to connect audio from the DVD to the receiver? If so, where? Please help...we're at wits end!

Hello,

This is how the connection is suppose to be, DVR "OUT", to TV "IN" using the RCA plugs, then press AV on the TV. If this is how you connected it, then maybe there is something wrong with the video wire (Yellow).

As for the DVD, you need to connect an Audio wire separately because the component Red + Green + Blue wire only stands for video. Audio is Red and White, this must be connected for you to get sound from the DVD.

To connect the Audio for your DVD player, connect Red and White wire to Audio "OUT" of your DVD player, to "AUX" in of your AVR 146 receiver, then select AUX on your receiver and sound will come out from your DVD through the receiver.

I hope this is not complicated for you. This connection is simple, all you need is to understand the basics which is OUT and IN. If you want to watch DVD on your TV, this means the DVD will be good OUT to IN of the DVD. The same goes for audio.

If you don't understand, please let me know so that I can direct you further.

Good luck.

How do you get DVD picture to show up? Power is

You DO NOT use "Channels" to View a DVD player it usually connected to the AV External input. via AV, Yellow, (Video) Red & White, (Audio) or Component Video, Blue, Red & Green. (Video) + Red & White (Audio). These are selected via the External Inputs.

DVD plugged into red, white and green(Yellow) TV imputs, results

Yeah no color coz its black and white. Color coding commonly yellow wire for video, red and white wire for audio. It should also be from DVD to TV, video out and audio out going to video in and audio in. And switch the TV to play video and the audio inputted. Maybe TV/Video Switch or button.

Hope it helps

connecting a wii system to a sanyo DP26648 tv

It has to do with the type of input - Video2 and 3 are Component video inputs, requiring a 3- wire component video cable (Red,blue, green for video, red/white below for audio). Video 1 is for analog equipment (Yellow for the video, red and white for the audio). Unless your Wii comes with a component video out cable and jacks (same red blue green), you'll have to use video 1 for the Wii, and use Video 2 for the dvd. You'll need a component video (3-wire) cable for your dvd, which should have the jacks for it. You can use the present cable you're using for the dvd, but you'll have to change the connections on the back of the dvd to component video out, and you'll still need another 2-wire cable to connect the audio out on the dvd to the audio in on Video 2 on the tv.

Here's the manual for your tv - look on page 8 for these connections. the Wii will be an analog connnection, the dvd will be a digital connection.
