Tip & How-To about Washing Machines

How to Solve : Kenmore Dryer shuts off by itself!

I have heard of several cases where the Kenmore dryer completely shuts off by itself after a few minutes.
Here is a couple of things to check :

Door switch
If the door switch is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. It's a possibility that the heat would render the contacts defective. You can put a jumper wire across the switch and see if it helps.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that turns off the dryer if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is around an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

bosch Axxis WTE86300US turns itself off after ten minutes, won't turn back on for a few minutes after that

I would bet you have a bad sensor. There are a couple of sensors that monitor heat. When it gets too hot they shut it down as a safety precaution. Once it is cool enough it will start up again.

I have a Kenmore Elite gas dryer - model # 110 70052990. Just hooked it up after a year of not using it and it continues to shut itself off on Normal dry (begins at 40 minutes) and shuts off at 38 minutes. Have checked the flow and the lint and both are clean and clear. Ideas?

We have a Kenmore dryer series 90 model #11066904690 that we started spelling a burny smell. We took off front panel and vacumed out we tryed to use it again and same thing happed and then shut off completely. Any suggestions?

This could be a couple of things. But more than likely the motor has burned out. It could be a wire has burned off, or even the timer has burned. Since you say it "shut off completely", I would have the power cord checked where it connects inside the dryer. UNPLUG it from the wall first! I have seen one wire burn off there from being a loose connection. There is a cover plate you can take off and look inside.
