Tip & How-To about Motorola Mobility Mobile PhoneTools 3.0 (S9824B)

After updating software, phone not recognized

I had MPT 2.2 and then 3.11. After loading 3.11 and manually selecting my phone and settin up aprofile name, software updated itself and I could no longer access my phone from my PC or Laptop.

I re-intalled 3.11 and the software merged with the update listing all the updated phones, kept my user name, logged in and re-selected my phone(from GSM phone line).

Now no problem.

My MPT version 4 will not recognize all my phone contacts.

Do you have some of your contacts on the SIM and some on phone memory? I have used the MPT software for many years and never had any trouble but if you have contacts in both places you might need to adjust the options to view both.

Hi, I know this must be annoying to have all those crappy default pictures on your phone ad you want them off as soon as possible. Well you're luck I have a solution for you. Somethings you'll need to do the following: USB Cable P2kman or;(www.motomodders.net) MPT Depending on which method you want to use you'll use either software. But backup all the files that you are deleting off you're just in case. Even if you never plan to up load to your phone again. METHOD 1 This is just a case of deleting the actual wallpaper/screensaver/video using p2kman. METHOD 2 - the '0 Byte' Method This method uses MPT instead of p2kman. 1) On your PC, create a '0 Byte' file with exactly the same name and extension. Note that it is case sensitive. 2) Click on the Multimedia Studio on the right hand side of MPT. After it has loaded up, the left hand side shows you a Windows Explorer, while the right hand side shows you the Audio, Pictures, Video folders that correspond to those on your phone. This is the root directory. 3) Send that 0 byte file to your root directory on your phone. If this wasn't helpful, I'm sorry this is all I can suggest.
