Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Save/Backup Settings does not work on F5d7234 V1 router

On the F5D7234 version 1 in the firmware 1.00.01 with which the router was released the feature to save the settings does not work correctly. When you try to use the feature it will produce a Page Cannot be Found error on Internet Explorer or a blank page on Firefox.

Workaround: click the Save button to produce the error or the blank page, now the address bar of the browser will show: http://192.168.2.1/userconf. Change this to http://192.168.2.1/user.conf, i.e. put a dot between user and conf and press Enter. The settings will now be saved as usual.

I have a Belkin F5D7234-4 v3 wireless router. I was wondering, is there any way to either upgrade to a different firmware version such as the v4, or just a simple way to make it more a wifi receiver?

You cannot upgrade v3 to v4 or v5. Belkin routers are junk, because once they come out with a new version you will never see a fix for your router. You have to go buy a new router if you want better access to the routers settings. You are better off buying another brand like I did. Belkin blows.
