Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Couldn't find Harddisk while downgrade to XP? Follow this.

First download nlite:

You can download it from here:
http://www.nliteos.com/download.html

Download the most recent version(You must have .Netframework 2 or higher installed) for the software to work.

You can download the .netframework3.5 from here:(if needed)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325fd-ae52-4e35-b531-508d977d32a6&displaylang=en

Install Nlite,
Insert the Windows XP Set cd, and copy all the files in the cd to a folder say WindowsXP in any drive but say d:

Now run installed nlite, Select the folder d:\WindowsXP\(As per my example).
After Next, Select the options
-Drivers
-Bootable ISO
Next Again
Now you will given to integrate the drivers:
First you need to download the SATA drivers & follow a bit instruction here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3387995&docname=c00758841

and integrate the drivers into the cd in nlite( you also add other drivers like audio etc if needed)

Create Image or burn to cd/dvd directly and boot from or dvd
Install windows xp and install the other drivers you can search for the drivers in your manufacture website.

setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer

Hi. Thanks for your question.
  • Your problem is often a case when someone attempts to install Windows XP on one of newer computers. Windows XP does not support SATA hard drives which your laptop use. There is a way around it. One of the easiest ways is to integrate your laptops SATA driver on Windows installation disc. Sata driver can be found on this website ----------> http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/drivers
  • There is a program that you can use to integrate your sata driver onto your installation disc. the program is called nlite and can be downloaded from hear----->http://www.nliteos.com/download.html
  • Guides on how to create this disc can be found on this part of nlite website----http://www.nliteos.com/guide/index.html

I hope I made it simple enough to follow. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have more questions. Thank you for using FixYa

i have a dell inspirion 5000e recognizes hard drive in bios but can't access it. Now my cdrom won't boot or read disks. This also is recognized in bios. what could be the problem and how do i fix it? Plz help.

Method 1 : Go to BIOS and set anything with SATA disable (usually find under advance setting in IDE configuration setting).Save the setting.

Windows Xp will detect your hard drive now.

Method 2 : This days BIOS comes with only few thing to configure.if that's is the case.
Download SATA driver, here is the link

you need one more software called "nlite" in order to integrate the SATA driver in Windows XP CD so that it recognize SATA drives.
