Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Restoring Missing CD/DVD drives from my computer

The cd/Dvd drive has disappeared from windows explorer and system folder "my computer " A glance in the device manager shows that obviously there is some serious problem .the entries are marked with a yellow exclamation marks .This is also confirmed by opening "properties' in the context menu of the device ,it reports "error code 19"an error has occurred in registry .

This kind of problem can be solved by changing some entry in registry .open registry editor with "start" "run" in run type regedit and click "ok" and go to Hkey_local_machine>system>current control set>control class>{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} in the right side of the window, delete both the values"uper filters"and "lower filters".To do that select the successive entries press (del),and confirms the security query that will pop. After restarting your system the drive will be back again.
