Tip & How-To about Washing Machines

Too many suds in your clothes washer?

Washers built today use less water and energy than ever. With this reduction in water a reduction in detergent is needed. Detergent manufactures along with the assistance of appliance manufactures have developed HE or high efficiency detergents to use in the washing machines we buy today.

This detergent is low sudings and is very concentrated to effectively and efficiently clean your laundry. Always use the recommended amount on the label and no more. Do not use not HE detergents or additives that are not recommended for high efficiency machines or sudings may occur.

The over sudsings can cause poor washing, odors due to residue left in the machine and on laundry and poor drying as the washer may not be able to extract the maximum amount of water from the clothes. Washer failures caused by excessive suds can include odors, premature bearing wear, motor failure and an array of failure codes that can be hard to troubleshoot at times.

what is the partion insert for the washing powder container for?

Welcome to FixYa.

That is the Liquid detergent partition...P/N 8061633. ( part number )

**This from ASKO...

Because ASKO washers use less water than conventional top-loading washers, you need less detergent and fabric softener. We recommend that you use a low-sudsing powder detergent only, preferably a high-efficiency (HE) detergent designed specifically for front-loading washers.

**(Liquid detergents tend to suds more, which make them more difficult to rinse out.)**

Detergent - The amount of detergent needed varies, depending on the detergent you use. For high-efficiency detergent specifically for front-loading washers, you should use the amounts recommended by the manufacturer.

Also, the amount of detergent needed can vary due to differences in water hardness. (Refer to the Use and Care Guide for more details.) If you choose to use a liquid detergent, start out with a very small amount, such as one or two tablespoons.

Hope that answers your question, let me know please. Thanks for choosing FixYa for your repair solutions today. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Please take a moment and rate the solution provided for you as well as a testimony if you feel it warranted.

Can you use regular detergent with front loader washers??

All manufactures suggest using a high efficiecy detergent. They are specially formulated to keep the suds level low and work well with the low water levels of a front loader. Boxes are marked with an HE on them letting you know they are for high effiency machines. Regular detergents were designed for washers that use many gallons of water.
