IE7 flashes briefly when I click on it and then goes away

This usually happens after installation. 1. Click START–>RUN and type cmd
    2. At the prompt, type cd and press ENTER
    3. Type cd Program Files and press ENTER
    4. Type cd Internet Explorer and press ENTER

    5. Type regsvr32 IEPROXY.DLL
    6. You should get a confirmation that the IEPROXY.DLL has been registered. You can then close all windows and try Internet Explorer again.
If these steps don’t solve the problem, try

    Launching IE with add-ons disabled:
    1. Click START–>RUN
    2. Type iexplore -extoff
You can also create a shortcut so that you can always run Internet Explorer this way.
    1. Right-click on the Desktop
    2. New–>Shortcut
    3. Enter in iexplore -extoff

    Hope this helps

my son did a "system recovery" on my lap top.. Now i cant locate the internet. i found all my files on a back up file but not sure how to get them back.. can someone help me?

when you say "i can't locate internet" I'm assuming you don't know where the executable icon for internet explorer is, so the following is what you can do to put it back on your desktop or put it back in the start menu.

first of all make sure internet explorer is avaliable/enable/installed in your computer by going to control panel>add remove programs>add remove windows components and check internet explorer if it's uncheck. then try the following if needed:

go to start>my computer>local disk c: (or the system drive letter you have on your system) > program files>Internet explorer and in that folder look for iexplore.exe and right click on it and send it to the desktop as a shortcut or pin it the the start menu.

you can also put it on your start menu by right clicking an empty space on your taskbar (bar wher the start button is .. the blue area), go to properties, go to start menu tab, click customize and put a check mark next to internet and select internet explorer.

    change homepage

To use IE either locate the file IEXPLORE.EXE on your machine and drag a shortcut back to your desktop, or just just type IEXPLORE.EXE in the RUN box, after clicking on START.

Microsoft internet explorer jammed will not open or operate

Have you tried opening it not only fron the shortcut (icon on desktop) but also by pressing start, internet explorer? If these don't work, try pressing start, run, and type "iexplore" into it.
