doesn't enable virtualization

To determine whether your PC supports hardware virtualization:

Step 1. Does my PC have a CPU with support for hardware virtualization?

Download and run the Hardware-Assisted Virtualization Detection Tool

If you receive the message This computer does not have hardware-assisted virtualization, your computer does not meet the hardware requirement for Windows Virtual PC, but you can still use Windows 7 XP Mode by running this hotfix. Be aware that XP Mode will run much better if hardware-assisted virtualization can be enabled.

If you receive the message Hardware-assisted virtualization is not enabled on this computer, go on to Step 2 below.

If you receive the message This computer is configured with hardware-assisted virtualization, download and install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode.

Step 2. Does my PC BIOS support hardware virtualization, and is it turned on?

Instructions to turn on hardware virtualization in your PC BIOS are specific to OEM models. It is important that after changing your BIOS settings the PC is completely shut down at the power switch before restarting so that the new BIOS settings can take place.

Examples for some models of some computer manufacturer's BIOS settings are below:

Sample instructions for your PC

Expand all

Dell systems

Depress the F12 key when boot menu text appears at startup

Select BIOS setup and depress the Enter key

Using the mouse, expand the Virtualization Support menu item by clicking on the plus to the left of Virtualization Support and select Virtualization

Check the Enable Intel Virtualization Technology checkbox

Click Apply

Click Exit

Fully shut down (power off), wait a few seconds, and restart your computer

HP systems

Depress Esc key when prompted at startup

Depress the F10 key to Configure BIOS

Scroll to System Configuration using the arrow keys

Select Virtualization Technology and depress the Enter key

Select Enabled and depress the Enter key

Depress the F10 key to save and exit

Select Yes and depress the Enter key

Fully shut down (power off), wait a few seconds, and restart your computer

Lenovo ThinkPad systems

Depress the blue ThinkVantage key when prompted at startup

Depress the F1 key to enter the BIOS setup utility

Using the arrow keys, scroll to Config and depress the Enter key

Scroll to CPU and depress the Enter key

Scroll to Intel Virtualization Technology and depress the Enter key

Select Enabled and depress the Enter key

Depress Enter key to continue

Depress F10 key to save and exit

Select Yes and depress the Enter key

Fully shut down (power off), wait a few seconds, and restart your computer

Acer

PCs capable of supporting Windows XP Mode have already been enabled and do not require additional configuration.

Asus

PCs capable of supporting Windows XP Mode have already been enabled and do not require additional configuration.

Samsung

PCs capable of supporting Windows XP Mode have already been enabled and do not require additional configuration.

Panasonic

Depress the F2 key when boot menu text appears at startup

Select Advanced menu in Setup Utility

Change "Intel Virtualization Technology" setting from Disable to Enable

Depress F10 to exit Setup Utility

Select Yes in confirmation menu

Depress Enter to exit confirmation menu.

Please note the instructions above may not work in all cases and consulting with your computer manufacturer may be necessary. Additionally, we expect hardware virtualization to become more available when Windows 7 is shipped, particularly in business-class PCs. For those PCs that come pre-installed with Windows XP Mode we recommend the computer manufacturer turn on hardware virtualization before shipping the PC.

Once you have confirmed your PC supports hardware virtualization
Download and install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode

hope this helps

how to remove bios password of L505 S5984 model laptop

The basic input/output system (BIOS) is essential computer motherboard firmware. Using the BIOS menu, you can configure many system settings--for instance, the computer boot sequence--and also configure hardware, such as optical (CD/DVD) drives or a monitor. An optional password protects BIOS from unauthorized access. However, you may need to remove the BIOS password to facilitate the configuration of your system. The Toshiba laptop model Satellite Pro T1000 allows you to change BIOS settings and remove the password with a special Windows hardware setup program. 1. Click "All Programs" from the Windows start menu.
2. Open the folder "TOSHIBA" and click on "Utilities."
3. Click on "HWSetup" to start the Toshiba Hardware BIOS utility.
4. Click on the tab "Password" in the HWSetup window.
5. Select the radio button "Not Registered" in the field "Password."
6. Click the "Apply" button to to remove the password and save that change in the laptop BIOS.
Please rate me if you find it very helpful.

Thank you very much. Good day ahead on you.

how do i reset the bios password for my lenovo a310?

User passwords:
Power on
BIOS execution can be controlled by a Power On Password. This password is set in the BIOS Configuration screen, accessed by pressing the F1 key after pressing the power on switch to turn on the PC. If the person at the keyboard does not know the Power On Password, then BIOS execution halts.

Hard drive
The hard drive is controlled by the Hard Drive Password. After the Power On Password is entered, the person at the keyboard must be able to enter the Hard Drive Password, otherwise the disk drive will not spin up for use. Like the Power On Password, the Hard Drive Password is set in the BIOS configuration screen.

Administrative passwords:
Each of the two user passwords can be controlled by a Master or administrative password. If the administrative password is not set, then anyone who knows the user password can change it in the BIOS configuration screen. If the administration password is set, then it is impossible to reset the user password unless you know the administrative password. The Supervisor Password is the administrative password for the Power On Password. The Master Hard Drive Password controls the Hard Drive Password.

Password Recovery is a feature of Client Security Solution 6.0. This makes it possible for an end user to recover from the problem of "I forgot my Power On Password or Hard Drive Password."

power-on password forgotten! How can the computer be started?

The Power on Password is set from the BIOS configuration. Ask that person who borrowed your Compaq for the password. Once you have this password, you can enter the BIOS configuration and remove/disable this password.
Depending how old you Compaq is, removing the BIOS battery and main battery for 15+ mins may remove this password and restore the BIOS to the factory default (insert both batteries again) and configure the BIOS Date and Time etc.
BUT if the the password is stored on an EEPROM chip then removing will not fix this problem. There are no backdoor passwords available.

MY ACER ZG5 KEEPS ASKING ME FOR HARDWARE SECURITY?? ALL I DID WAS NOT REMEMBER MY PASSWORD, TOUCHED ONE OR TWO THINGS... BOOM! HARDDISK SECURITY COMES UP?

The BIOS (basic input output system) is a chip that stores the configuration of the laptop and this information needs a battery to keep it stored in its memory. The stored info, consists of The date & time, the amount of RAM (memory), the hard disk type & size, configuration of the parralel & serial ports, passwords etc.
Some passwords are not stored in the BIOS, such as the hard disk password.
The hard disk password is setup from the BIOS configuration and it can be removed using the BIOS configuration, but you need to know the password to do this, or you just enter the password to access the data on the hard disk. This password is used to prevent unauthorized access to data on the hard disk.
There are no backdoor passwords you can use and moving the hard disk into another computer will not allow you access to the data on that hard disk.
