Why does heater run only if fan motor is started by hand and top replaced quickly?

1. When you open the top, do you see any dust/hair on the fan? remove dust with Q-tip. look closely at the motor. Usually there are small holes on each side of the bearing for oiling. or if not ,a broom straw can put a small drop of oil onto the motor shaft, each side. spin the blades a few times. start as you have been doing to work the oil in.Turn off, put back together. here is hoping What is your heater make and model?

When running, oil is spewing out all over, covering the saw and my clothes. Is there any way to stem or regulate the flow?

Make sure your oil cap is tight & not cross treaded. If loose, any airpressure will force oil out the bottom, even sitting still without running. Sitting over night with an air leak will force all the oil out of your tank and all over . Something like putting a straw in a glass of water, putting your finger over the end and taking the straw out of the water, the water will stay in the straw untill you take your finger off. To oil your chain, push down on the cap to depress the thin plastic oil tank, when your done oiling, the tank will return to its shape, and draw air in from the bottom or where the oil went out, ready for another oiling.

Hi there, Just wondering if you would be able to help me. I was using my 4-stroke ride on lawn mower today through some really long grass. It turned off, and wouldn't start again. The engine is turning over but not starting. It has a brand new battery and the spark plug seems fine. Any idea's? thanks. harry.

I would first check for spark by removing the sparkplug, put the wire back on it and ground the nut part on metal part of the engine and have someone turn the key. You should have spark between the gap of the sparkplug. If you are getting good spark take a straw and put it in a cup of gasoline then hold your finger over the top hole and put the end of the straw in the spark plug hole and release your finger from the top of the straw. Do that a few times, put the plug back in and connect the wire. Turn the engine over and if it tries to start you have a fuel problem. If it does not do anything you have to check the engine for compression whith a compression gauge.

how do i replace my fuel filter?

The fuel filter is mounted on the frame rail. There are two types of fittings used. You only need to look at the fittings to tell the difference.

There is the plastic "hair pin" type of connector. It has a plastic connector with a plastic "hairpin" clip that pushes through the connector. Just pry the clip out with a screwdriver don't worry about breaking the clip, the new filter should come with new clips. Be careful not to break the fitting though. If you break the connector, you must replace the fuel line...not fun.

The other type is what Ford calls the "Duckbill" type of connector. I don't know wht it is called that...it doesn't look like a duck bill to me. Anyway., you can identify this one as a stainless steel connector. there is usually also a stainless steel lock clip that goes over the outside of this type of connector. The lock clip can be pried up and removed with a screwdriver. Once the lock clip is removed, a special fuel line disconnect tool must be used to releasethe spring clips inside the connector. the tool canbe purchased for a couple dollars at any parts store where you would buy your fuel filter.

You need to look at the car to determine if you need the tool or not. Both types of connectors are used for the same fuel filter. Plastic connectors - no special tool needed. Stainless steel connectors - special tool required.

Remove end caps from console (put fingers behind top and pull towards you. small flat head may be required). and the 2 phillips screws behind them. Pull console towards you and up, it wil flip out of the way. Unplug door switch connection on top rear right of cabinet (3 wires). Put flat head STRAIT DOWN into brass looking clips and push forward. They'll pop out. Lean cabinet towards you and shine flashlight inside. Look for oil splatter about 8" up from bottom. If there's oil, then the trans has leaked oil into the clutch and it's slipping. Repl. transmition and clutch assy. If you see oil, it's cheaper to buy new washer. Trans and labor is about 400
