Tip & How-To about Televison & Video

Ok everyone, this is a very common fault on this model of tv power supply, just keeps clicking on and off.
Your power supply board number should be.. 6709900019A

To resolve the issue we need to change some bad capacitors in the supply these are all the same value 3300uf / 10v

C227 / C201 / C202 / C203 / C281 / C282 / C283 / C271 / C272

All these need to be changed for the same uf but try and use a higher voltage, lets say 3300uf / 25v

Upon replacement your power supply will be like new and your tv will fire straight up.
Hope this helps a few people

clicks and clicks but wont power on

The TV is in forced standby because an internal fault has been detected. The clicking is the protection circuit that prevents the TV from starting to avoid more damage to internal parts.

You can try disconnecting power cord for ten minutes but I doubt that this will fix the problem. When the TV is in protect mode (that is the name for the "clicking and no power on") repair is usually needed. Testing will start from PSU to inverter passing through main controller board. One of the most common faults affecting this TV is the power supply, but all parts must be tested.

If you want to call a technician ring your local Samsung Support number.

tv clicks on but no picture yhe stand by light is bliking i have unpluged the tv from wall and the cable box but it justs click when you turn it on no picture could the settings be on

Hi .

The clicks that you hear is an internal device called protection circuit that is shutting down the TV, and forcing the PSU to +5V low only to keep the TV in standby.
That is called protect mode.

If the TV stays in stand-by, with the LED light on, but does not respond to remote, or to the buttons on the chassis, then that means that the TV has gone in protect (safe) mode because an internal fault had been detected.

In that case the TV is usually faulty.

The fuse on the PSU board is not causing protect mode. When the fuse has blown , then the unit stays completely off.

Common faults on rear projection models are Electrolytic capacitors on PSU board (power board), convergence ICs (convergence board). The parts must be tested before replacement. Less common faults could cause the same problem.

Try first disconnecting all connected devices, and leaving the TV disconnected from power for about 30 minutes. To drain power completely.

If that does not work, contact Sony, ringing the support number listed on the owners manual to get the TV repaired by a licensed technician.
