Ubuntu update manager error w failed to fetch 404 not found

Hi
When running ubuntu update manager if you get an error saying w failed to fetch 404 not found. In most cases you need to look into your DSN settings to fix this problem. Your DSN under your network setting are wrong. You can double check the setting on your Router or with your ISP's website

Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/t/thunderbird/thunderbird-locale-en-gb_31.0+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1_all.deb 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.91.13 80]

The file you are looking for does not exist on the server the correct file is http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/t/thunderbird/thunderbird-locale-en-gb_31.2.0+build2-0ubuntu0.12.04.1_all.deb

I did notice that there is a newer version available and it is located here http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/t/thunderbird/thunderbird-locale-en-gb_31.2.0+build2-0ubuntu0.14.10.1_all.deb

If in the future you run into this problem here is an easy way to find what you are looking for. In the hyperlink delete the file name that failed from the hyperlink to go to the level of the repository that houses that file, in your case that would be http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/t/thunderbird/ this will show you list of files available, scroll down tell you find the file you are looking for and select it to download. Although the hyperlink is an http link it is an ftp site which has a directory structural you normally can get to find the file you are looking for. Some sites restrict the ability to browse the directory but most allow you to do this.

Google 404 that's an error What is 404?

A 404 error is an HTTP status code that means that the page you were trying to reach on a website couldn't be found on their server.
Technically, an Error 404 is a client-side error, implying that the error is your mistake, either because you typed the URL in wrong or the page has been moved or removed from the website and you should have known. Another possibility is if a website has moved a page or resource but did so without redirecting the old URL to the new one. When that happens, you'll receive a 404 error instead of being automatically routed to the new page.
Note: Microsoft IIS web servers sometimes give more specific information about the cause of 404 Not Found errors by suffixing a number after the 404 as in HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found which means MIME type restriction.
