Tip & How-To about Televison & Video

I see multiple coloured images on my projection TV

If the error is severe, this is a convergence problem. Convergence ICs are not too hard to change but require good soldering skills. There can be two or three ICs. There may be a blown solder-in fuse or two.
A service shop will charge $200 -$600 depending on service call, parts costs, labour, etc.
A slight error in one or two colours that just barely won't correct is an alignment issue. There are a lot of internal adjustments done by remote. Digital adjustments are not forgiving. Have a pro do the adjustment.

Can't correct my red blue convergence manually or by using factory preset...the unit is 7 years old, is my picture tube bad?

You have bad convergence ICs. There are 2 ICs in the convergence circuit, one is for the Blue the other is for the Red. You can buy 2 ICs for under $40.00. Replacing these ICs require soldering and desoldering skills. Sometime, the resistors in the convergence circuit go bad also. Be very careful, there is a very high voltage in a CRT projection TV the voltage is over 30,000 volts.
Best of Luck
