If you are like me and you notice that after a while your computer starts to slow down and load up which is very annoying but have no fear in my experience I have a few trips and solutions to fixing your problems.
Check what is running when the computer starts up to do this click Start>Run> "type in"msconfig>Click OK>"tab at top" >Startup.Remove items that you do not need
Now while we have themsconfig box open go toservicestab make sure that you tickHide All Microsoft Servicesnow in the list that is left untick the services which do not look or sound like you need them any more "be careful what you untick make sure you no longer need the service"clickOK.
After a restart aSystem Configuration Utility box will appear now tick theDon't show this ... then this message will not appear again
Do a Disk Defragment on the hard drives. ClickStart>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmenter. You will now have a list of your hard disks now click theDefragmentbutton and let it run.
Cleaning up old settings. Load up a web browser and do a search for ccleaner download. Download and install ccleaner. If you run the cleaner it will delete all the on the left hand side of the screen it will give you a information box which asks you if you are sure that you want to delete the data from your system click OK as the data is not important however do check on the left side of the screen if there is something that you want to keep then untick the box. Running CCLEANER on the registry over time the registry gets full of old programs that you have uninstalled ccleaner will remove all the old registry files. On the far left side of the screen Registryclick on the icon it. Now we need to scan for issues it will list all the old settings once done click theFix selected issues..button at this point it will ask you to backup your registry it click yes and save it. Now that you have saved the file you will be give the options to fix the issues listed earlier clickFix all Selected Issues
Your System should now be running bit smother there are other things that can be done to improve the performance however this will do for now.
Your hard drive is spinning down and is slow to respond. Some of the old Fujitsu drives were known to do this. I would check your power saving settings in display properties and adjust it so the drive is not powering down.
Try downloading ad-aware. Run it and see if that speeds it up. It is a spyware killer (pop-ups), also clean your hard drive up with a disk clean up option and a degragmentation. If it is still running slow, try a ram up grade.
sounds like the hdd is just loaded if all you have freei s 1 gb and that makes the cpu move slower no if 6 yrs aith out goop is fine not that.
1. I suggest backing up only important personal data and formating & reloading the original (prefered oem xp for example) or any upgraded os you have access to eith software or some computers have a recovery process on the hard drive ( hit f X to start recovery process) this will clean all the junk off & give you back your original speed only install what programs / data needed use a good antivirus such as avast and antispyware such as defender from windows
