Tip & How-To about HTC Hero Smartphone

Turn Off Sense on HTC Sprint Hero

For those of you who may not like all of the fluff and frills of HTC's Sense (think of it like a theme that sits on top of Android), you can easily turn it off and use the standard Android user interface.

Possible drawbacks? Nothing that will affect the functionality of the phone. You will get fewer home screens (down to 3 instead of 7). You also lose the use of HTC widgets.

  1. Press MENU button.
  2. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications.
  3. Wait for the list of Apps to appear.
  4. Scroll down until you see HTC Sense and select it.
  5. Press the Clear Defaults button.
  6. Press the HOME button. You will be prompted to select which app to compete the action with. Select Home.
You can choose to make it the default if you want to go the stock Android every time you hit the HOME button. But if you just want to play with it to see if you like it better, leave the Defaults box unchecked. Just keep in mind that every time you hit HOME, it will ask you if you want to use Sense or Android Regular until you select one of those to be the default.

This method may also work for other HTC phones that use the Sense interface.

HTC Wildfire Sense not responding

I have a few questions hopefully i can help if you are still having this problem. What version of Android are you running? Are you running a task manager app if so uninstall it? Try wiping the data in HTC Sense by going ini your phones settings then go to apps then select the all tab. Go down the list until you see HTC Sense. Hit Force Stop and then clear data. Hopefully this helps. Another recommendation is an alternative launcher from the Play Store such as ADW EX or Apex Launcher. Hopefully this helps. The old HTC Sense is a resource hog and replacing the launcher will improve performance. An even bigger step would be to root the device and remove sense all together. Let me know if you need help with this.

how can I install Android 2.2 in my HD2,thanks.

Prerequisite to run Android 2.2 Froyo on HTC HD2

1. Flash HardSPL3 on HTC HD2
2. Flash any HTC HD2 Radio ROM Leo_RADIO 2.08 onward

Guide to install and run mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.7 build

1. Download zip file here.
2. Extract contents of zip file to your SD card. Note - Android folder should be located at root level (SD card\Android).
3. Using file explorer in Windows Mobile, inside the 'Android' folder run CLRCAD.exe (to fix audio issue). Don't worry, it will appear to do nothing, that is normal.
4. Run Haret.exe.
5. Enjoy...

Note - Android 2.2 Froyo on HTC HD2 is not perfect yet compare the actual Android phone HTC Desire. Some functions are not working. And I got white and black screen of death (SOD) sometimes. But it is getting better and better each day. Hoping it will out perform actual Android phone out there soon.

I want to download a FREE htc desire theme. And i woyld like it even better if the theme lookt like a iphone theme does

Best if you use your wireless connection as the data will transfer faster when you do this. ( I'll assume you don't know how to do this as too much info is better than not enough)

To do this press -

1 menu
2 All Apps
3 Settings
4 Wireless and Networks
5 Turn on Wi-Fi

If you don't have Wi-Fi connection follow same steps but turn on Mobile Network instead of Wi-Fi

Then back up to the home screen

1 menu
2 All apps
3 Market

This will take you to the android market where you can dowload loads of apps, for free or some you have to pay for.
When you are in the market select the magnifying glass in the top right hand corner of the screen then type in "themes" or more specifically "i phone themes" and you will get loads to choose from, if you cant find the one you want for free the usual price I saw for them was about £0.63, depends how bad you want the theme.
