When this error occurs, just switch on the camera and leave it like that for about one hour.. it will clear by itself..

Try opening the cassette door and with a hair dryer on a LOW setting let it run for about 10 minutes. If it does not clear then I would supect a faulty sensor.

This is a safety feature which often gets in the way.
Basically if any video head is wet - it will stick to the tape and you get a ball of video tape.
Hopefully you are careful not to fill your camcorder with water, so this is a nusience alarm.
There will be a sensor fitted on or very near the video head that can easily be replaced with a standard resistor. You won't have protection - but I'm sure you can live with that. Modern recorders omit this anyway on cost grounds. I Don't know the value directly, but you can pull the service manual and get a value from that, r just go with the "**** it and see" approach.

Hello,
I had the same problem, and basically threw the camera out of the window!!! It did not change whatever i did.
Just a suggestion... since it is a condensation error because of humidity, you may want to dry up the cam.. (just put it on a warm place and wait)
i never tried this, since i threw it out, but let me know if it works.

Hi Eagle338,
Thanks for your tip for the condensation error on the DCR-HC15E. I am currently experiencing this error for no apparent reason however it does not clear after I perform your suggestion. Do you have any other suggestions to try for this problem? I am a technician myself but not for video equipment. Could the moisture sensor itself be faulty?
Any help will be greatly appreciated thankyou......
Daryl
