Tip & How-To about Televison & Video

Turning off the Melody sound on a Samsung Television.

You have a Samsung television and you want to turn it on at night, and not wake up your house, or you are annoyed by the sound that the television makes when you turn the set on and off. Samsung incorporated a feature into the set that will play a melody to let you know that the set is either turning on or off, whichever the case may be.
If you want to turn off the melody you can follow the instructions below and that should take care of the annoying sound that is bugging you.
You may have a Samsung television and you remember when it had a melody when you turned it on and off and now that is gone. Well this tip can help you too. The same menu selection will allow you to enable the melody that is missing, and you can bring it back.
You can change the setting on your Samsung Television by selecting “Menu” then “Settings” and arrow down to “Melody”. There are four options; Off, Low, Medium, High. I personally would not select the high setting as it is very loud on my set. I guess if you have someone in your house that sneaks the television on and you want the loud melody to play, this could be a way of knowing when the set comes on. I hope that this helps you with your television issues and as always, Thank you for using FixYa.
I hope that you enjoy your television for years to come.

Shearer,

You have not mentioned what model of Samsung phone you have. So, you must locate the sound Options in the settings and disable the sound for these two events.

what is loud sound suppressoion

It is a dynamic range compression feature. Due to the widespread abuse of Dolby and other digital dynamic range features, normal listening levels may be interrupted by VERY LOUD explosions, etc. which may not only wake you up, if you fall asleep in front of the set but can make your neighbors very annoyed. To counteract this, a loud sound suppression feature, sometimes called "Late night listening" is offered to limit the loudest sound you will hear.

How do you turn off light at bottom of TV under Samsung name?

Hi I am Vortash that is the standby light and the only way to turn it out is to turn the set off at the wall ? This is the safest thing to do at night in any case Televisions are responsible for more fires in the home than almost anything else .
Here in the United Kingdom there was even a Public announcement film made just to tell people to unplug them at night made by the Fire safety council ... regards Vortash

noisy ice maker

I too have the incredibly loud ice dumping going on in my 4door new Samsung refrigerator that echoes throughout the house and could wake up a neighbor!! All the above solutions appear to be from repairmen that are not giving any solutions to the VOLUME issue of the ice being dumped. I prefer not to spend
$300 for a visit to tell me that "that's just the way it is", you'll have to live with it. Call Samsung or write them and tell them
the ridiculously loud sound from the ice dropping in the tray is
unacceptable. I'm going to!!
