Tip & How-To about Refrigerators

Procedure to Replace the Compressor Relay in a Refrigerator

1) First of all Unplug the refrigerator from main power outlet..
2) Then locate the relay terminal cover, it is located on the lower inside panel on the back side of the refrigerator. You will see a wire running from the compressor to this box. Open that box the relay will be right under the box.
3) Then remove the connector that holds the relay.
4) The relay will get loose and come out. Take care that you don’t pull the connector too hard as it should be secured at its place and not be removed.
5) You can get same relay from local appliance store or hardware store.
6) Then Plug the connector wire back into the new relay, in the same exact position as it was placed in the old relay.
7) Now before you turn on the refrigerator .check out all the side wires that they are not moved from there position and not touching to any metal object on the refrigerator wall.
8) Again reconnect all the parts which you removed while removing the old relay from refrigerator.
This will help. Good luck.

I have a 1996 Acura 3.5 R.L. just put a new fuel pump in and it won't start. It turns over, but will not stay started.

Check your main fuel relay.

Fuel Supply System

PGM-FI Main Relay

Description

This PGM-FI main relay is located behind the dashboard

lower cover. The PGM-FI main relay actually contains

two individual relays. One relay is energized whenever

the ignition is on. It supplies battery voltage to the PCM,

power to the fuel injectors, and power for the second

relay. The second relay is energized for 2 seconds when

the ignition is switched on, and when the engine is running.

It supplies power to the fuel pump.

Relay Testing

NOTE: If the engine starts and continues to run, the PGMFI

main relay is OK.

1. Remove the PGM-FI main relay.

2. Attach the battery positive terminal to the No. 3*

terminal and the battery negative terminal to the

No. 2* terminal of the PGM-FI main relay. Then

check for continuity between the No. 5* terminal and

No. 2 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay.

• If there is continuity, go on to step 3.

• If there is no continuity, replace the relay and

retest.

that there is continuity between the No. 3 terminal

and No. 1 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay.

• If there is continuity, go on to step 4.

• If there is no continuity, replace the relay and

retest.

4. Attach the battery positive terminal to the No. 1 terminal

and battery negative terminal to the No. 2*

terminal of the PGM-FI main relay. Then check that

there is continuity between the No. 5* terminal and

No. 2 terminal of the PGM-FI main relay.

• If there is continuity, the relay is OK;

If the fuel pump still does not work, go to Harness

Testing on the next page.

• If there is no continuity, replace the relay and

retest.

haier rrtw18vabw refrigerator is not working. Think I burnt the fuse. Trying to find out where it is located?

There is no built in fuse in refrigerator. Check the power plug with an ohmmeter, and the start relay of the compressor.

How to remove start/run components on a mgdm-07 cu. ft refrigerator

Remove lower back cardboard panel (some units do not have this). With the unit unplugged locate the compressor and remove spring clip on terminal cover. Remove wires from the compressor terminals noting where each one goes. Remove "Overload" (round black disc) from the line cord (other end of overload was connected to compressor. The other side of the power cord is connected to the "Main" or run terminal of the relay (usually plugs into compressor pins).

PF error on Maytag neptune gas dryer

This error code indicates "power failure" was detected. This could be caused by a bad/loose connection at either the logic board, the relay board, or at one of the three main power connection terminals on the back of the dryer. The logic board is located inside the control panel. The relay board is located in the base of the dryer. You can unplug and reseat electrical connections at these locations and check the main power cord hook-up at the terminal block. Hope this helped and best wishes.
