Tip & How-To about Kitchen Ranges

Electric stove oven burning food?

If your oven is over cooking and or burning everything ,more than likely its your temp.thermostat it is not that hard to replace, before you do that go down to your nearest home depot or lowes or appliance store and get a portable thermostat they usually crome in color, take and set your oven to a temp like 350 for example put your new t.stat inside your oven and keep checkin to make sure it dont go above 350 if it does then you will need to replace the thermostat.to get to it first pull the t.stat knob off remember its the one you set the oven temp.with unplug range pull stove out away from wall so you can get behind it,you will have to take off all the screws that hold your cover panel on the screws are usually 5/16 nut driver.take the two screws off the front right behind where the temp knob is,mark the wires so that you do not forget where they go,, you dont want to hook them up wrong.it can cause alot more problems if they are put on wrong ok now, open oven door and you will see on the inside of the oven a copper wire that goes from the temp.control to inside your ovenall you have to do is take the wire and feed it through the back pull it out and take to your nearest appliance store make sure you write the model number and brand of the stove pick up the new one and put new one back on, put panel back on plug range in,and set temp back to 350 put the portable thermometer back inside oven should be good to start baking again

Don't worry my wife does the same thing. Not sure if your talking about the range top or the baking potion. We'll assume the baking area. If your using cheap bakeware that could be part of the problem try using a different cake or loaf pan of heavy construction. Also you may try reducing your temp in 25 degree increments to see if your oven runs hot. Example buy 3 cheap frozen pizzas and if they say value at 400 try 375 , 350, and 325. If one of those temps gives the desired result assist accordingly and consider contracting Bosch customer service to inquire about how to fix thermostat errors.hope that helps I didn't have much to work with.

Oven consistently burns food no matter what temperature setting

Well, must confess, we had this problem once, after cleaning all the knobs. We put them back, reversing the two temp knobs. The correct placement, we found, was the left oven knob, since it is not self cleaning, does not have the word CLEAN. This is the far left knob. Next, from left to right, appearing very simmilar, also with temps 200 to 500, is the right oven temp knob, which does say CLEAN. Third from left is the right oven function knob, with CLEAN, Time Cook, etc, and no temp numbers. Hope your fix is this simple. Hope your cooking is looking good cooking.

Oven not working properly

I just solved this problem with my GE gas range. I waited forever for the oven to warm up. The igniter would glow, light the burner and burn for a minute or so and go out. It would repeat this process till oven reached operating temp, which took forever. Problem is in the igniter. It may be glowing, but it is not letting the gas valve stay open, because it is not hot enough to create resistance in it to keep gas valve open. I had replaced the thermostat thinking it was the problem. The good part about it was I could take it back because my buddy works at supply house. Once the igniter was replaced, the oven fired up and stayed lit till operating temp was reached. It will also hold the oven temp much better. Oh yea, the igniter will stay glowing while the burner is on. Hope this helps.
