How to install your monitor drivers in Windows 7

1. You will need to access your computers display settings. This link will show you how to access the display settings

http://www.fixya.com/support/r4290529-change_windows_7_display_settings

2. Click on "Advance Settings"

3. Click on the "Monitor" tab

Note here is where you will is if you have a generic drive installed or not. If it shows Generic or Plug & Play Monitor then you may not have the actual monitor drivers install.

4. Click on the "Properties" button and click on the "Driver" tab

5. Next you will want to click on Update Drive
At this point you will want to select "Browse my computer for the driver software". The reason you want to do this is because if you select "Search automatically for the updated driver software" you will most likely get the default Windows drivers that are already installed.

6. Next you will browse to the driver CD or the place you have the drivers saved on your computer. Note if you just upgraded from Windows XP your old drivers may not work and you will need to find Windows 7 versions of the drivers. However if you have a Windows Vista version of the driver this may work.
After you get the location set click Next

7. At this point you should get a message that states that the drives have been installed.

8. Click Close - Close - OK - OK and you should be back at screen resolution.

Where can I find the right driver to install a Viewsonic VE710b Flat Panel Monitor? I am running Windows 7, 64-bit **This connects to my VGA port, I already have 36" Samsung conntected via HDMI, and

Search Viewsonic.com. The Windows generic driver usually works. If you have a special video driver for your Samsung, it may be interfering. Multiple monitors have to be set up through your display driver. The viewsonic should be available through the device manager.

How to change your Windows 7 display settings In Windows 7 there are serveral ways to get to your display settings. I have detailed them below in options so that you can access them as needed. Option 1 Right click on your desktop and select "Screen Resolution" Option 2 1. Right click on your desktop and select "Personalize" 2. Next click on "Display" 3. Click on "Adjust resolution" Option 3 1. Click the Start button and click Control Panel 2. Next click on "Display" 3. Click on "Adjust resolution" Once you are in the Screen Resolution you can set the resolution you want. Note the resolution that is set now is a wide screen resolution. If you have a standard monitor the equivalent resolution would be 1280 x 1024. After you have made the needed changes click on Apply then OK to save your changes. Note if you are still have trouble with your monitor displaying right you may need to install the monitor drives. Windows is not going to have the actual drivers for all monitors. So in picture below you will see where is shows "Generic PnP Monitor" this means that the computer is using a generic driver. You can access this screen by clicking on "Advance Setting". screen blank green light flashing slowly

chriswowe359

Normally when the power light is flashing green on the monitor this means that the video drivers are having problems.

Note with LCD monitors they are very picky about the signal that they get and if they get a signal that they can not support they will go black to keep them from burning out.

The best way to fix this issue is to connect a CRT monitor to your computer and reboot the system. After you reinstall the video card driver you may need to also install the actual monitor drivers for the monitor. Note in most cases the default Windows driver will send the proper info over to the monitor but in this case that driver is where the problem is and updating to the actual driver will help keep this problem from happening again. The link below will show you how to update the monitor driver in Windows 7.

How to install your monitor drivers in Windows 7

If you still have trouble or do not have access to a CRT monitor you may want to try the monitor on another computer. If it works then you will need to back up your data and reinstall Windows on your computer.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions
