Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

How to make sure you get a FixYa answer.

Ok so you want help.. well to help YOU, WE need help too.... from YOU. The help we need is INFORMATION. If you do NOT tell us EVERYTHING to do with your problem, you will seldom get a satisfactory result. 1. If a PC, or, whatever, what is the EXACT Brand, Model number, Etc. 2. State what is wrong.. What you are experiencing. At length, the more you explain, the better, well to a point. Do NOT just say, "It's not going" EXPLAIN what's NOT going, exactly. 3. Indicate what OPERATING SYSTEM is being used, Exactly. 4. Do NOT expect clairvoyance, if you do NOT indicate we do NOT know. 5. BEFORE posting, look back for a prior fix.. MANY problem such as yours have been fixed before, do some research, do not be lazy. 6. Get the MANUAL, for you unit, also actually, READ the MANUAL. 7. Explain what methods you may have used to try and sort the problem out.

no power not working no light comes on but lead is ok

on what?
There is little point in posting a question with no real information.
Saying something is "broke", "doesn't work", "can't connect" or that you "need" or "want something" is pointless without ALL the information.
What actual products are you using? Makes, models, connections...everything about your problem is necessary. We are not there with you. We cannot see what is obvious to you. Most problems occur when you try to get something to work with something else. We need to know all the things you are using and doing that ends with your issue.
The issue is the last thing we need not the only thing.
If you did something silly, then tell us. We aren't going to laugh at you, we want to help you. In all likelihood we did something similar and so we know if it can be fixed.
If you hope that by lying about the situation we will be able to fix your issue, you are WRONG.
If you are trying to do something illegal we know about that too.
We want to help you. We do not get paid for our work. We do it because we want to share our knowledge and help you.
If you do not post complete information, most likely your question will go unanswered, so you wasted your time and our time reading your post.

New phone. Bought it on sale at Frys. The salesperon loaded the Micro SD 16GB class 10 chip and my husand loaded movies, songs, and other programs. Everything was fine. I received a email from Microsoft telling me neat tricks including taking photos with the phone off or locked. I turned the phone off, tried to take a photo, following the instructions. It didn't work. I turned on my phone and everything my husband loaded was gone, including all contacts. He had to do a hard reset and got back my contacts, but he is now having to reload everything else. My husband is a software engineer and is very smart. Why did this happen?

Hi mshedgehoq You need to take the micro sd card out of the phone put it into your computer and make a copy on the sdcard from your computer. Your husband did a hard reset should not have wiped out all the information. If you go to my files look for lost.dir and see if all the informationd is still in their. Now your husband didn't do anything to the phone it is thr way of all dtoids to put your information in the lost.dir ok Hit that menu and you should see all your information. The hard reset did it's job which is to wipe the phone competely out of data like brand new.
