Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

How to move a picture in "word documents -microsoft office" without moving text?

Well many times when we move a picture or graphics on a word document, the text change their places.
To avoid this, right-click on the picture, go to 'text wrapping 'send to' front or back. This will allow you to move the picture freely without affecting your texts.
In other situations, you'll need to right-click picture/format/layout/behind or on front of text.

Is there a way to put a copy of text page into microsoft word. I have a windows program in my computer. Thanks, Ken in N.H.

Hi there!

If what you trying to insert/copy is a graphics/picture in a new MS Word page, the solution is to INSERT the graphic in to it.

If that is a text page, simply open the document, highlight or press the CTRL key + A right click and copy, go back to the new MS Word page and again right click and paste.

I am compiling a book in Family Tree maker 2009. When I export the book to a word document ready for printing we loose the format of the document. Do you know how I can export to word using word 2007? My older word document I had no trouble exporting into a word document but with this new 2007 program I am having all sorts of drama. Pictures keep moving all over the document and dont stay where they are placed like they used to. I have used word for my previuos book, what am I not doing to get this to work... Please help Bev

not what you are doing, it is a Microsoft plot! once you get used to a format they shift the goalposts, introduce new bugs change the toolbar ribbon so you have to start from scratch all over again. Its called UPDATE

Pictures need formatting to anchor them to where you want them. Export of text is not always compatible to 2007 unless there is the option of RICH TEXT FORMAT . Have you tried cut and paste of the text and then add graphics after so you can format themk and have the text flow around them.

Please ratye my help++++Thanks for using FIXYA

How do I take a section of a scanned page and place it in another document?

Assuming you are speaking of a page of text the page must be scanned as text by using optical character recognition software. Then it may be saved as a document that you can manage anyway you want. Simply select the text you wish to place, copy and paste in another document.

If you are speaking of a page scanned as a graphic then you would have to use a graphic editor to crop the section you want to use, save it and place it. But it won't be text that you can edit. It will still be a graphic image that you place in the document.

Won's print pdf files

Trouble with the HP Laserjet printed output may be solved by using the following settings (or similarly named ones): "Use raster Graphics" (instead of "Use vector graphics"). This may fix the problem of "reversed" text (white on black background) not printing, as well as other problems. "Download TrueType Fonts as bitmap soft fonts" (select "bitmap" instead of "outline" or "graphics"). This may remove the overlapping of text on the printed document. "Graphics dithering" select "coarse" or "fine" (instead of "none"). This selection may improve the quality of images contained in the document. You can find all these settings in your printer properties. Go to File, Print, click Preferences, in Printing Preferences, click one by one all the top options, and change one of the top solutions, one at the time, checking your printing output. Always check if you have the latest version of Adobe Reader Program. If not download the latest version from Adobe, it's free. Is this the first time that you have the problem? or with the same printer (HP 4si), did you were able to print PDF files in the past?
