Tip & How-To about Office Equipment & Supplies

How to keep your printer from taking in too many pages when it gets older

A common thing that hapens to printers is that the older it gets the more paper it tends to eat when printing. Commonly called "pickup jam" for ink as well as toner printers (inkjet or laser printers).

In order to stop this problem from happening, you must buy something called Rubber Roller Rejuvenator which is a liquid (sold by fixyourownprinter.com) which you apply to the "pickup" or rubber rolling areas that catch the paper. User or get a repair manual for the locations of the rollers, use a qtip and apply it twice a month and let it dry for about 10 minutes.

You will automaticaly see your printer no longer takes in multiple pages anymore! :)

Printer keeps jamming even after clearing jam

Hi, most paper jams like this are caused by something inside the printer called a "pickup roller" which is a series of rubber tube/grippy things that are responsible for moving the paper through the printer. If these rollers are dirty or worn down, they don't grip the paper properly and end up causing jams. In larger, more expensive printers, they have maintenance kits that you can buy to replace rollers, fusers, and other commonly replaced parts - but it's probably not practical for this model of printer. You may want to try opening the printer as much as you can (without removing screws) and using compressed air and a lightly-damp-with-alcohol cotton-swab to clean the rollers and other parts that touch the paper.

Hi - I have a Brother HL5250DN with the paper light flashing but there is paper in the tray and now it wont print - can you help??

Is the Status light also red? This could mean other things than being out of paper. It could be a paper jam (most commonly anyway). Get a flashlight out and inspect it for jams.

user always complain that the paper jammed in the printer

Inside the printer are pickup rollers that need to be replaced every 1000 or 3000 prints, depends on the printer. Its commonly named maintenance kit. Other problem could be resolve if you clean the rollers with alcohol, this was on a manual and saved the day once. the fuser is the other part that has to be replaced every many prints, consult you manual if a replacement is due.

Because there many things that can cause to paper to jam, I posted the most likely to be, and since I do not know the time the printer is working, checking the maintenance check up is very important, Exactly like cars.

Alignment error after replacing black ink. Lexmark X5495

I found a pencil inside my printer and took it out. It was not easy but now it does not jams the paper. Disconnect the power cord and softly shake the printer from side to side making sure you are holding on to the top scanner door so it won't flip open and listen for anything rolling or loose inside. It just might be your problem.
