Tip & How-To about Office Equipment & Supplies

How to troubleshoot the faded printout problem in laser printers?

This is due to this reason:-- A faded print image is normally the result of one of three conditions: The printer is getting low on toner, the print density is set too low, or Econo mode printing is turned on. For the last two settings, a printer self-test (typically a separate button on the printer) will show what the current settings are. If Econo mode is on, and users are complaining about how light the print is, turn it off and/or set the print density higher. If the toner is low, simply removing the cartridge and shaking it to redistribute the toner more evenly can temporarily resolve the problem until you can replace the cartridge. This will help. good luck.

My CP1515n colour laser is giving faded colours. The left side of the print is very faded whereas the rest of the print is slightly faded

There are two reasons for faded prints. Firstly, faded print could be due to exhausting toner.
If it you have faded prints even after replacing the toner cartridge or if your current cartridge has enough toner, it is most likely be due to dust/ toner dust accumulated at the laser reflecting mirrors inside the printers,
which partially blocks laser beams and requires cleaning/ servicing by a professional.
Hence, it is recommended that you get the printer checked/ serviced from authorized service center.

Hope it helps! Good Luck!

print quality: dark faded, but continuous

Open top cover and remove toner, shake toner cartridge and try a test print. IF image good then problem is low toner level in cartridge.

Color problem!

If you the image is faded and your toner supply is good, the problem is the developer blades in the imaging unit. It sounds like the magenta blade needs to be cleaned. During the normal use of the printer, there is a buildup of toner that sticks on the developer blade. The developer blade meters the amount of toner that gets to the drum that ultimately makes it to the paper. As the toner buildup increases on the blade, less and less toner that gets to the drum cause the image to fade.

To fix this problem you will need to disassemble the imaging unit and clean the blades or buy a new imaging unit. I have clean my blades and I have a document to show you if you are handy.
