Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Extending laptop battery life

Hi, when you purchase a laptop, or you have a laptop with good battery life, once a month unplug the mains and use the laptop until the 'battery needs recharging' warning appears, or until the laptop 'dies' then recharge the laptop as usual. You can continue to use the laptop whilst recharging is in process. This will help keep your laptop battery in good condition. It doesn't matter if its a NiCad, Lipo or Lithium Ion battery, they DO all have battery memory and benefit from this process.

my battery always stays charged, so why is my laptop telling me that i need to replace my battery?

Hi,the reason why your laptop is telling you to replace Battery is,you have killed your battery without knowing by Charging it always, since you have constant power supply, you should at least after getting a new Battery, discharge it four to five times a week longer life of battery,by these i mean, unplug cord from mains let power drain to 5% or 10% before charging again while working and if fully charged and you are not making use of it disconnect and if you want to make use of it use battery instead do not connect immediately to mains until power drains from battery.Just like your mobile phone, you only charge it when need be(ie. when Battery is Low).

The battery light remains on unless the power

If the computer will run on battery alone, and you cannot fully charge the battery, it's probably time for a new battery. The life expectancy is 2-3 years if treated right. Some people get a lot more life than others.
Here's a suggestion: when you run your computer, let the battery run fully down at least once a month. Do not leave it plugged in to line power all the time. Do not keep charging it when it is only a little bit discharged.

Hi, can I operate the A 70 on mains power without a battery

Your battery will not charge until it reaches a lower limit of charge.
Whilst in the Laptop and using mains power your battery acts like a UPS and is available soon as you lose power.
The battery life will not be degraded or improved, removing it whilst plugged into mains.
When using Laptop om=n mains the battery is always there in case you lose power or somehow the lead gets pulled out inadvertantly, so you will not lose work.
I use a laptop all the time for work just got a new Latitude D630. The battery in my old lappy is still good for 2hrs+ and never been removed.
80% of its life was on mains.
Hope this helps.

laptop battery

It does charge until the battery reaches full charge, then charger stops and laptop use adapter's power. The whole system is thought to not damage or wear the battery while in charge. Leave battery safely inside your Dell while using it with power adaptor, it should not make any difference in your battery life.
