where is the alternator fuse

It's difficult to tell what's going on from your question, your old battery appeared to have failed, so you replaced it? Did you check voltage while it was running? It should be more than 13 VDC, otherwise the battery will discharge, but it's not the fault of the battery, that would indicate a problem with the alternator and/or voltage regulator. There are 3 important voltage readings: running (13+), not running (12+) and while cranking (9+).

Are you saying that after replacing the battery everything is dead? I would check the battery cables and terminals, make sure the wire hasn't been stressed or compromised, and that the connectors are shiny-clean. (You can but a terminal cleaner, with wire brushes to clean the fittings both inside and out, for a few dollars.)

Also, it's uncommon, but there's no law that says a brand new battery can't be dead.

What could cause 2004 Ford Focus to suddenly quit as described below?

Bad connection at battery cable ends, bad alternator. Low voltage can make entire system go dead. Test battery and check all main cable and ground connections. Yes this can happen while driving down the road.

95 Toyota Previa will not start.

Check the battery connections to be sure the terminals are not cracked or corroded, then check the battery it may have a low or dead battery or a shorted cell, try to jump start if it starts ok then replace the battery

car won't start. Parked car, two hours later, got in turned key, all went dark. No dash lights. Did not even try to turn over. Battery was caroded, cleaned posts, no change. Fuses under hood all okay. Haven't added or change anything about car or stereo. same key i've always had. when put battery charger on battery seemed okay just a little down. tried to start again no change. Everything will even go dark when I touch the brake pedal.

Check that battery connection again real real good. If your batter was just "a little low" then there is plenty of juice to at least run your lights. For every single thing to be dead with 0 response you have a failed power feed. Check all them big power wires and their corresponding grounds. This is your problem. But just to double check the battery charger you used you may try another batter if you have one and see if the response is different. Also make sure that cable that was corroded is not corroded where it is clamps onto the power wire. Cut that clamp off and install a new cable clamp as needed.
