Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Computer problems no power,self rebooting

If you are experiencing this problems..

you can follow this steps..

first if no power check your cables for loose wires..

next check your front panel wires in your motherboard...mostly the power panel maybe it is not properly connected...

much better if you kno how to short your power on pins so that you surely know if it will turn on...if you short it and it didn't react or still no power.. your power supply is your problem..

next if you are experiencing self rebooting..

if you are experiencing self rebooting in windows logo...

you can see the logo but it will reboot without notice,,

first try to check your motherboard capacitors...
this are the one that will be the first to be damaged if there are problems in power supply...
if you have already check it..try to run it again and if the computer display a message that you are prompting to select start windows normally, last good configuration,..
try to choose the last good configuration..if it hangs up..
try it again then choose safe mode if hangs again..
you need to run system restore... if you don't have it..
you need to format your hard disk..
i advise you to remove your hard disk and make it a slave to another pc so that you can back up your important files...
then return it to your cpu and format it...

if you are suspecting that it was a virus that cause your problem.. make sure that the pc you will use to be you back up point have an anti-virus software.. and try to run scan first so that the virus will be detected and prevent it for entering the other pc...

Printer wil print when scanning but not from computer

There are a few steps you will need to follow to resolve this problem. Follow these steps one after the other. start with the first step. after each step, try to print and see what happens. if your problem is resolved, ignore the other steps.

Step one: Clear any paper or carriage path obstructions

1.
With the product turned on, open the print cartridge access door. The print carriage might try to move into the access area. If so, allow it to move to that position.
2.
Without turning off the product, unplug the power cord from the back of the product. Unplug the power cord from the power source. The power cord must be unplugged to allow the parts to be moved by hand and to reset the paper feed mechanism, without the risk of an electrical shock.
3.
Looking in through either the print cartridge access door or the output paper tray, make sure the print cartridges are locked into the carriage and have not come loose. Also, make sure that there are no obstructions under or around the carriage to block it from moving.
4.
Make sure the print carriage can move freely across the width of the product by gently pushing the carriage to the left and then to the right. Clear any obstructions found.
You may have to reach through the output paper tray to access the print carriage.
5.
Close the print cartridge access door and plug the power cord back to the back of the product. Plug the power cord into the power source.
6.
Press the On button to turn on the product.

Step two: Ensure correct installation of the front panel overlay
If the front panel overlay, or bezel, is incorrectly installed, the product may indicate a false carriage stall error condition. If the product has not been set up before, ensure correct installation of the front panel overlay by following the instructions below.
If the front panel overlay is already installed, and your printer has been working for some time, do not attempt to re-install the overlay. Press firmly on the overlay to ensure proper installation of the overlay adhesive or pins.
NOTE: If you have already installed the front panel overlay, proceed to the next step.

1.
Disconnect the power cord.
2.
Locate the front panel cover and peel off the paper backing to expose the adhesive as shown in the graphic below.

*

*
If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue with the rest of the instructions on this page.
*
If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step.

Step five: Remove and re-install the print cartridges
Improper placement or installation of the product's print cartridges can cause the product to indicate a carriage stall error condition. Ensure correct installation of the print cartridges by following the instructions below.

1.
With the printer plugged in and turned on, open the cartridge access door (see the illustration). After a moment, the print carriage should come to the center.
The print cartridge carriage is the plastic part that holds the print cartridges.

2.
When the carriage is at the center of the access area, unplug the printer.

NOTE: Try to inspect and reinstall the cartridges as quickly as possible, so that they do not dry out. Avoid touching the copper-colored parts of the cartridge.

4.
Reinstall the print cartridges.
*
The black or photo cartridge goes on the right.
*
The tri-color cartridge goes on the left.

5.
Close the cartridge access door, plug the printer back in and turn it on.
6.
Try the print job again to see if this step resolved the issue.
*
If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue with the rest of the instructions on this page.
*
If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step.

my thomson dti 6300 250gb free view box wont turn on

Emailed Topuptv and got this reply

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for contacting Top Up TV.

Please note that we are currently aware of an issue affecting some Thomson DTi6300 boxes.

If your DTR will not come out of standby and is not responding to your remote control, please try the following procedures.

Step 1: Power cycle
First of all, remove the power to the box and wait 20 seconds before restoring power.
Wait while the box tries to restart and allow 2 -3 minutes for this to complete.
Try this at least twice.
If it doesn't go to the solid green light then proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Front Panel Reset

Note: This procedure will unfortunately cause you to lose all of the recordings that you have stored on the box. You will need to be able access the back of the DTR and the front panel buttons

1. Remove power to the unit by removing the power cable from the back of the DTR.
2. Wait 20 seconds and restore the power cable while holding in the standby/power on button on the front panel of the DTR.
3. Release the standby button immediately you see a light 'blip' on the DTR front display and then immediately press the following front panel arrow buttons in sequence Up>Down>Left>Right
4.The DTR will now show the Orange LED with the Green LED flashing until the format has been completed in about 60 seconds. The DTR will return to ON automatically.
5. If requested, perform a channel scan to complete the operation.
