How to change the function of the power button/change what happens when power button is pressed

People have different needs and thus , here I will show you how to change what happens when you press the power button on your desktop computer in windows.

Go to your start menu and select "Run"
Type in Powercfg.cpl
Under the advanced tab you will be able to select what happens when you press the sleep or power button and what happens when you close the lid of your laptop if applicable.

Since the run command is not visible by default in Windows Visa and later , there is a bit of a longer way to get to the settings.

If you would like to put your run command back on your start menu , please read my tip : Where has my run command gone

Go to Control Panel
Go to System and Security
Go to Power Options

Then select "Choose what the power buttons do"

In this window , you can select from the drop down list , what your power buttons should do when pressed.

mac g5 wont start led light blinks once every 7 sec

Hold down the power button until the computer shuts off. The press the button to restart and see what happens. There are several different ways to startup. immediately upon hearing the boot tone, press and hold the shift key to boot in safemode. If this fails as well, then you will need to boot with the install CD. This is done by immediately pressing holding the C key upon powerup

how to make my infocus show my cd on my PC

Infocus projector can show what ever on your desktop. if you open cd on desktop that will show on projector provided you are connected to your projector. Its better to power on projector first and then your computer!
Alternatively you can press Fuction button the button with green lettering on left lower part of keyboard and F4 on top simultaneously to show whats on desktop through your projector! if it does not happen press function button and F4 again!

Computer turn on, but when it does it won't POST

It seems like a motherboard issue. It heats up, thus is not able to turn on continuously. You may need to check internal parts embeded on the motherboard llike the fan and processor before you could know what needs replacement.

When pressing the power button, the fans only come on. I checked all the connections, and tapped the power button, the fan can on briefly then it booted up. Why do this happen, and how can I prevent it from happening again.

There are a number of causes but the most likely cause is a faulty power supply. Try a different power cable to the power supply first, then try a different power supply to see if this solves the problem.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Best wishes,

When I leave my computer, after a while, the screen says that it is going into the power saver mode. When this happens, I can't do anything with the comuter. Can't turn it off, can't get the screen out of the power saver mode. What do I do?

Basically you need to tell the computer to "wake up." Different systems come out of power-save mode different ways.

First, try pressing the key to the left of the [CTRL] button on the right side of the keyboard. It looks like a list with an arrow pointing at the second line.

Next, if you have a keyboard with a little button that has a quarter-moon logo design on it, press it.

Also, look at the power light indicator on the CPU. It should change color when it goes into power-save. If it does, try pressing the power button once for it to wake up. The same is true if there is a power button on the keyboard.

If none of these work, you should look at your preferences and make adjustments. The power-save mode adjustments are generally found in the control panel under Performance and Maintenance in the Power Options section.

Hope this works for you!!
