How to get the aeroglass look on none WDDM supported graphics card

Many people have upgraded their computer operating systems from XP to Vista or Windows 7 but their graphics cards don't support the aeroglass effect.
This is because the graphics cards don't support the WDDM drivers so the look of the operating system just looks basic.

There are a couple of little applications which can make the operating system look like it has the aeroglass effect even though its quite basic. Even though the look is quite basic it still looks good enough to have a desirable effect.

If you have seen Windows 7 or Vista which has the aeroglass effect enabled then you will have noticed that you can see through the borders of the windows and taskbar itself.

To achive these looks there are two little applications which you have to download and install.

The first one is True Transparency. This will make the borders of windows transparent.

Download True Transparency from here and install it >>>>>>>>>

http://truetransparency.en.softonic.com/

Take a look at the screenshot below to see how it looks. I'm running this application myself on my laptop with Windows 7 installed.

As you can see the windows borders are transparent. To use and change the look click on the notification area and right click on the True Transparency icon like in the picture below.

Next we have to work on the taskbar. We are fairly limited with what we can do here but we can still have the transparent effect even though we can't change the colour.

What we need to achive this effect is an application called Tweakwindow.

Download and install Tweakwindow from the link below >>>>>>>

http://www.shareup.com/TweakWindow-download-20010.html

To configure Tweakwindow you will find the application in the nitification area just like with True Transparency.

With these little applications you can have the aeroglass effect without having the need to upgrade your graphics cards of install memory hungry applications like WindowBlinds.
WindowBlinds does work with Vista and 7 but tends to slow down the PC dramatically causing application hangs and system freezes.

Both True Transparency and Tweakwindows works on XP, Vista and Windows 7.

Until a registry hack becomes available to force aeroglass on none WDDM graphics cards we are stuck with using these little applications.

When a registry hack becomes available I will update this tip.

Happy computing.

my windows does not hav aero pick

If you are using Windows XP this option is not available in this operating system.

This feature was introduced in operating systems which were released after Windows Vista. So it is available in Windows Vista, Windows 7.

If you are using these operating systems then it is definitely has. Else either you have to upgrade your O/S to Vista / 7.

This feature is not activated by default. It depends on the hardware profile of your computer. If your desktop/laptop has less resolution graphics card then, this feature is disabled and there is no option to enable it as your h/w is not supporting this.

Hope this clarifies..

i have formated my hp pavilion dv6233se i cant find a driver for two base system device and a coprocesor... i upgraded my laptop to windows 7 ultimate... where do i download such drivers? ive been trough hp IT tecwebsite and its not listed on the said device... thank you...

Good luck finding Vista Drivers if the manufacturer doesn't have them. some things you can force XP drivers to work on Vista /7 i'll let you know right now if your graphics card isn't supported with Windows 7 your SOL using the standard VGA adapter driver. you can't force XP graphics drivers... Windows 7 graphics drivers are WDDM drivers not XPDM. i just went through this with my Dell latitude D610 laptop.

(this isn't part of the answer it's just my experience with vista/7 display drivers)

Microsoft said because the Intel 915GM is lacking hardware scheduling it doesn't meet WDDM standards and Intel can't release a WDDM driver for it. so i'm stuck with standard VGA with No Aero and a system rating of 1.0 because of graphics while everything else is at a 3.2 or higher. i guess for me its back to XP...... or vista (LOL ya right)
