Windows 7 install

This is a tip explaining exactly how to do a clean install of Windows 7.
This tip will provide you with pictures and instructions to make it as easy as possible.

Before we start doing any installation, you need to know, that all the data on your C - drive or System drive will be lost. To ensure that you do not use any data, remember to backup all the data.

Also remember that you need to be sure that you have all the drivers for the devices. Although Windows 7 have a large internal driver database, there will still be some drivers which will not install automatically.

Now, after you have backed up all the data on your C - drive, and have all your drivers, we can start the installation process.

Firstly you need to insert the Windows 7 dvd into the dvd rom. Now, restart your computer, where you will be promted with the following screen. Once you see this screen, press any key to boot from the installation disc.

Once you have pressed the key, the installation process will start loading.

At the following screen you will need to choose your language and currency settings.Once you chose it, click next to proceed.

Now, just click on the Install icon to proceed.

Now, check the box and click next to proceed.

Now click on the Custom(Advanced) options.

Now, click on the drive which you want to install Windows 7 on. Once you selected the drive, click on drive options to proceed.

Now, at the following srceen, click on the format option, once the format is done, click on next to proceed.

Now the installation of Windows 7 will continue as seen on the following screen.

Once the GUI - Setup is almost complete, your computer will restart automatically.

After the restart is complete, you will be promted with the following automated screens.

At the following screen you will need to type in your Username as well as a computer name.

Now you need to choose a password for your user account, as well as a Hint for your password.

Now you need to enter a product key for the version of windows which you installed. You can just click on next to proceed, but you will be promted to enter the product key within the first 5 restarts.

Just click on the recommended settings once you get to the next Option.

At the following screen you will be able to choose your time settings. Click next to proceed.

When promted with the next screen, choose the Home network option, to ease networking purposes. Click to proceed.

Now, you are done. The following screen is the last in the installation process.

You are done now, this is the default screen for Windows 7.

how to format windows xp and install windows 7

Hi,
You need the original installations DVD's.
On windows xp,you can't upgrade to windows 7 so you have to run a clean installation. This is done by inserting the installation DVD's to run set up and following instructions.
To maintain the settings that you have in windows xp,you may need an external hard disk first to migrate files off your pc.This is done using Windows 7 Easy transfer from which you will later re-install your files and softwares. This software is available in windows 7 installations DVD's under support.
Visit this sites to learn more on the installations.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

The laptop won't load past the welcome screen. I can get it to start up, and go to a start in safe mode etc. but it won't load past the welcome screen.

Hello,

Your computer is experiencing a no boot problem which means that the operating system is corrupted. You can do a start up repair to fix the computer but if it won't fix it then that's the time that you need to reinstall the whole operating system.

It could have been very helpful if you provided us with your operating system so that we can provide you with the exact troubleshooting. However, I just presume that you are using windows VISTA or Windows 7. However, this troubleshooting also works with windows XP.

Before you start the start up repair. You need the Operating System Installation disc from Microsoft.

1. Insert the disc in the dvd/cd drive.
2. Restart the computer.
3. Once you see the "press any key to boot to cd" message. Press any key.
4. It will bring you to a page where it will ask you to INSTALL or to REPAIR. Just click on repair.
5. It might ask you to load the drivers. Just click ok or next.
6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

However, if start up repair won't fix the problem, Clean Reinstallation is the next step. Clean reinstallation will delete everything in your computer including the files, pictures, etc. that you have saved. But you cannot really access them anymore since the computer won't boot up.

I'm am providing you with the links to the tutorial on how to reinstall the operating system.

2. Windows 7 Reinstallation Tutorial
3. Windows Vista Installation Guide

I hope this helps. Thank you for using fixya.

I purchased a new Compaq laptop for my aunt and she has forgotten the password and cannot get into the computer. It has Windows 7 operating system.

I have been planning to update this topic as a tips, but since it's should only be authorized to System administrators and Network Engineers, it's not possible and not allowed to do so, but I would like to give you the link where the important tips and trick.. (click here), If you follow the instructions and use the file with the exact instructions, definitely you'll be able to reset the password, but please note that if you/he had encrypted files saved on his computer while he could access his account, those files will never be able to recover. I am really sorry for that, but I guess he/you haven't applied those settings with his account.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I just got a new computer with windows 7 in it. When i try to install the 3D software it doesn't work with windows 7. what can i do to get my program to work. When i install it it causes some of my programs to not respond.

3D can be made to work with Windows 7 - I have it working just fine on my 64-bit Win.7. Go to http://www.sewmuch4retirement.com/tips.html
Tip No.4 from the top is for you - these are the instructions I followed and they worked perfectly. You do need to be sure you have the latest version of 3D - it's 7.25 I believe.
