Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Over heating problems with HP laptops

Before you think your fan has gone bad or the mother board has gone bad stop. About 50% of my fixes are due to a clogged fan or dirty. Take the time and blow it real good. You can do it while it is still put together or if you are comfortable you can take it apart and clean it out real good. Once you do that run it for a while and see if stays powered or over heats. If you have updated your bios it will change your fan speeds and could get hotter than normal. You can think Intel for that one they changed there requirements.

i have a 1999 oldsmobile intrigue with a 3.5 engine and it is overheating what might be the problem?

It's usually the thermostat, I woud pressure test the cap. It may need to be flushed. Are the fans working? Is there a 50/50 mix of anti-freeze

Have a Dv7-1243cl with a Intel Processor. Took it to be fix by a computer man. He said the mother board was bad. I got a new mother board and put it in. But the computer comes on for about 3 sec and stops right there. All the lights come on but the screen stay off. Also the fan comes on for 3 sec and stops. It worked before I took it to this guy. Just took it in to have a new DC plug put in it. Can anyone help?

Sounds like there is a video problem. The most likely sources are a problem with the video card (gpu) or the display itself. I would guess that it's something with the gpu due to the recent motherboard replacement. This component is integrated into the motherboard. Some quick fixes for this problem is to reseat (take out and put back in) the battery or the memory (RAM). I would recommend trying that before calling it a bad motherboard.

My control board has gone out for the second time in 4 months. Is there an upgrade for this problem?

No there is no upgrade. A typical defrost timer type refrigerator would serve you better. I know the Artica/Profile and they have a few weaknesses beginning withe the 12 volt fans. When the fan goes bad on a refrigerator you don'ts always notice it. When fans go bad they run for 2 hours and stop for three. When service Technicians come out to your home they usually just switch the mother board and run. They don't wait to check and they never tell you these things. I can help you if you want, the mother boards are the same, you refrigerator is sensitive to fan failure, compressor start components failure and electrical surge, I hope I answered your question. Other than that they are good refrigerators, Thanks, Sea Breeze
