Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Have a problem connecting a new computer to your network? This is kinda easy to do, first find a computer thats already connected to the network, then go to the settings of the network and write down all the information about the network like the wep key, dns server, and even the ip address. Then go the the new computer and go to the settings and fill in everything you wrote down, UNTIL the ip address, this is where it get a little confusing. write down the copied ip address but change the very last number to one number higher that it for example: connected computer ip address: 192.180.1.900* Then here is the ip address you will place on the new computer: 192.180.1.901* then your computer should connect.*=made up number do not use it

I have a Toshiba A105-S101; just had to reinstall XP Pro on this laptop.. my internet is hooked up to my desktop and I need this laptop to connect to my wireless internet. What can I do to get it, Im guessing it isn't already on here. I checked and saw that its not under my network connections. I dont know much about computers. Any help?

Good day.
Since you already have a wireless connection, it would be easy for you to connect to the wireless network as long as you know your Network name(SSID) and wireless key which could be WEP or WPA. On the lower right hand on part on your desktop, also called the system tray, please look for the wireless icon which looks like an antenna with radio waves. Right click on that icon and please click "View available wireless connection," your network should appear on the list. Please click on your network name and click "Connect" to start your wireless connection. If it prompts for a wireless key or password, you could contact your Internet Service Provider to provide you with the password.

I hope this has helped you today.

you dont need to get a new software for connecting the computer to the 2wire, if you already have a computer that is currently connected, the next computer will be plug and play if connected with a ethernet, for wireless you just need to reconfigure the computer for wireless connection
