Tip & How-To about Computers & Internet

Installing your Operating System.

So, you need to, or want to, install the Operating System, Windows. Now installing an OS is NOT always straight forwards, indeed it can be really frustrating at times. But I implore you to keep your cool, and persevere. I have been doing this now for over 25 years, and I can tell you from bitter experience that sometimes installing software especially an OS, can be fraught with what can only be described as "Gremlins" .... If you get told that it "Can't Continue" You get BSOD's, Do Not despair... keep trying, I personally have had installs that seemingly would NOT install but after after doing it over and over sometimes changing things, sometimes not, eventually it WILL work.

Hi there, I am trying to install windows Vista as a virtual machine but I keep getting an error saying something that I have recently installed has caused a problem. The app I installed was vmware which I have removed. I have deleted any 32 bit os and old vhd but it still wont let me install vista. Any help greatly appreciated

Hello there, usually when you want to install a virtual machine the first thing to do is determine if the virtual machine platform is compatible with the OS you are planning to install. I had similar problems with VM ware when i was trying to use it with vista and it was one error after the other.
Needless to say VM Ware is not so compatible with vista. If you really want to use a virtual machine for vista without hassles simply switch to Virtual Box from sun micro systems. You can download this for free from virtual box.org the system is straight forward, easy to use and has great support capability for vista OS.
Hope this support has been helpful?

Wanted better operating system then linux suse on my msi u90!!

Yes you can change to any operating systems at any time. You can change to linux's earlier versions or later versions, or you can change to windows wp/vista/me/98/95. When you buy a computer it comes with an operating system, However you can change it to whichever operating system you want. all you will need to do is purchase whatever operating system you want, it will come with installation disks, pop one in restart your computer and it will walk you threw installing it. ( I have done this with XP & Vista, I am assuming Linux is the same.)

My Computer always restart eventhough i had turned it off, plis help me!!!!

No mention of which OS so assuming you have XP,
I would suggest a format and reinstall.
This will give the system a new breathe of life.
Heres hoping you have the OS disk,ie XP Win2K
It should be straight forward if you have the disk,
just insert disk and reboot once it restarts,
the system should ask if you want to reinstall the OS,
Select to install over existing system and let this run until its finished the new install.
When install completed activate windows,
Register Windows when your ready and dont forget the SP2 updates,do these updates if you want the devices to work properly, and all should be ok.

If you have no disks,
check if there is a partition on the C drive with a restore image on there,it will be easy reinstall from there.

Let me know if this helps,,,thanks

Having problem installing Windows XP on My Acer Aspire T650 Computer

Before you did the install did you make sure that you set your CMOS setting to check for a cd disk first before booting straight to the hard drive? When you do an install, you must make sure that the computer knows to look for a bootable disk otherwise it will look for an operating system to boot to first. If this is the problem, after you have installed your operating system you must go back and reset your CMOS settings to look for a hard drive or operating system. Hope this help and if it doesn't let me know for further assistance.
